Thinking about getting an xbox 360 ... can someone give me some help!

Basically I am a total noob when it comes to xboxs, so here are a few questions that I need answering to help me decide:

Can I connect an xbox 360 to a pc monitor via a DVI cable or HDMI (DVI is preferable).

Can I buy a new a 3.5" or 2.5" HDD and stick it in an xbox 360 ... if I need to do a little modding will it be a lot? If it is too difficult could I use an external enclosure and if so would it need to be esata, firewire or just usb 2.0 (possible to use USB3.0?)?

Does the lian li xb01 case work with the newer "slim" versions of the 360?

Can I connect my pc headset which uses two standard 35mm jacks for the mic and sound to a 360 ... if it doesn't work if I bought the soundcard for my siberias would it work then!?

Finally I am thinking of maybe getting a xim2 for it in the future. Does anyone have any experiences of them or know any good reviews (only seem to be able to find video reviews)?

Finally can anyone give me any help tips/advice that they think might be helpful!

    Thanks!

    1. yes, but remember DVI is video only and connecting to a PC monitor via HDMI with no speakers will have no sound again... and as such will need a audio output i.e optical to a speaker system.

    2. google it, it can be done but i personally was put off by the fact that it can get you banned on live..

    3. unsure sorry

    4. you get a headset with your console if you get any set other than arcarde (if thats even still available).. dont think you can connect a PC headset however, await others on that one

    5. someone on here purchased a mouse/kb thing for their console, have a search for it

tips are: get some games, get LIVE, and enjoy! good console since jasper (chipset) has been out)

Thanks for your help v.helpful. But in the first answer you say it can't be done without an optical connector ... what is an optical connector!?

I have a siberia headset and found this product which enables me to use it with a 360. I would still lilke to know what a optical connect is though because i might want to use speakers

Like jack said, you can connect it to a monitor, but only thorough HDMI or VGA (you'll need to buy the vga cable) and will need a seperate audio source.

You cant change the hdd for your own BUT, you can get a cheap 250gb "old" xbox360 hard drive from cex, crack it open and put that in the slim.

The audio solution is possible, you need to plug something into the controller for it to work though, and I'm not sure where it was for sale (i think play but not 100%)

Tips, get xbox live, get involved in a friendly clan (see my sig) and it becomes 100x more fun.

An optical cable would be usually be one used to pass digital audio (dolby/dts) from the xbox to an amp or home cinema system such as this:
    http://www.google.co.uk/products/cat...d=0CDwQ8wIwAA#

It looks like the adapter you want to use connects to the heatset via the control pad so that will work fine. Im not sure if you get the full game audio through that headset or if you only get the 12 year old douchebags screaming at you over xbox live though.

Also, im not sure why you would want to put the new slim into the lian li case, its small, fairly quiet and doesnt get as hot as the original. IF your worried about it still then just stick it on a laptop cooler or something like that.
