I got fed up with the high gloss finish of the 250gb slim attracting so much dust, even a quick going over with a microfiber cloth causes the thing to turn on and off while jabbing the disc tray in my face. Ordered myself a carbon fiber skin, hopefully it will not just look awesome but help combat the need for frequent dusting.
Yep, the dust is a pain in the derriere isn't it..two days and mine's full of dust again..even tried anti-static wipes and tumble drier sheets with no effect. Luckily the dust doesn't cause the machine to turn on though.
Mines done this a couple of times over the last day or so, just pulled the power out of the back
My Cat keeps turning mine on as she wanders by. Bloomin' things are hair trigger sensitive.
Either that or my cats had one mouse to many.
Just fit the carbon fibre skin, a few of you wanted to see the results so I took a few pictures.

i think it happened once to me i actually didn't really notice but i turned it back on it was fine, in your case u might need to clean the power supply or the fan
I just started having a problem with this today. 250gb thats almost a year old. I turn it off it turns back on. It even says there is a controller connected but there isn't. Then I connect my controller and it appears as controller 2. Only way to turn it off is by unplugging it.

Might be worth calling Microsoft about it as from memory no one has come up with a fix for it as yet (apparently it was fixed in a dash update recently)
Mine isn't turning itself on but it now does the trick (once again about a year old) when I turn it off, the fans keep going for up to 20 minutes (not a heat issue as the 360 is cold to the touch) but the power light will go off and come on at 1 minute intervals. Only started doing this after the previous update over a week ago.
Since the dash update the power light and fan on my Elite stays on for a while after I have switched the console off.

Yeah same on my 250 slim. Must be a new feature to cool the system down before it fully powers down, or a dodgy dash update.
if the fan stays on and the power light blinks slowly it is downloading something in the background, you can turn that option off in the system settings if you don't like it.

That option is off already, I double checked that one
Only seems to do it at random times, only thing different is the new dash or the kinect that I finally hooked up after sitting in its box since December.
It also does it if you have a controller attached with a low battery - it'll charge it up first then power down.
I had thought of that but as I only charge it whilst gaming, wait until full charge and then disconnect the cable and then turn the 360 off. These days however the 360 is mainly a lovefilm/netflix box. Barely game on it.
