Finally being made? Wow. Been a while in the making. $1564 is about £800!! Who on earth would spend £800 on a keyboard even if it is one like that?!
You'd get most of a new PC for that if you were a gamer or a complete PC if you just wanted to surf online and email.
Madness that. I wonder if it'll sell like hot cakes and they can reduce the price after a bit to say £500. That'll get more sales(!)
, out of my budget!!
I would guess that the price of this will go down just as fast as it has gone up. What did it originally start at $300 or something? I believe the phrase "no more than i high-end mobile phone" was touted at the start.
I count 114 keys, so thats 114 little LCD or OLED screens. I don't know how much it is costing to produce each key, but reduce the cost by even a 3rd and the cost of manufacture is going to be significantly less.
v2 or 3 should be better too, perhaps they will have full key sized screens, especially on the larger buttons.
I love the concept of this though.
Yup, fantastic idea and once it comes down into the price bracket of mere mortals (i.e. ~£100) it'll be even better. It's a few years off before it gets to that price bracket, but the basic concept of being able to customise your keyboard for different apps is great.
Hopefully Logitech have their R&D dept working overtime to figure out how to make these cheaply.
That's sooo much nicer than they were originally going to make it.
A bit on the expensive side though :/
