hi Guys,

We have turned this on for all members with 200 posts or more on the forums - easiest way is to go QuickLinks and then 'Pictures and Albums'

Please feel free to use it and upload to it - we want to get some real traction on this.

We've obviously not defined all of the rules for this - but we should work on these for when we hard launch it.

For now - the rules are simple

- No Porn or other indecent images
- No acts of violence or animal cruelty.

These rules will change over time so please feel free to use it and see what you think

I would assume it's a photo gallery ..... not just hosting space for images placed on the forum. In other words, it's for showing off your photos. I could be wrong though.

You can use it for anything you like within reason - photos you have taken, photos of your systems - or even screenshots.

Sounds like a cool concept though

Is it possible to do competitions?

ie post pictures into a public album and then we can judge based on that? (since some of the old photo comps were quite popular, maybe we could get it into a recurring feature again)

I can get it to work, i just made a random test album with a quick photo from the other day.

the only thing that wont work is that the auto resizer that it claims to do doesnt work. you HAVE to do it manually.

Could it not be defined by maximum filesize instead of maximum dimensions and have the image tags proportionally scale the image in the forum post. Perhaps it could also have an automated "click to view full size version" event? Just a thought.

Okay, it works now. Turns out I was trying to upload un optimised images running at around 2Mb....and 600x600 works fine for me too since everything I've got is actually 500 px along the longest edge....
