    New Setup

Well, just got my new TV

Got a few things I'm going to buy, like a new Center for starters

When watching TV the picture is as good as its gonna get with this TV, although I've just tryed watching a DivX movie through my PC, I used Composite out of a 9600std. after some fiddling I was using 800*600 but stretching the picture to 16:9 (it ended in proportion) through the TV, after all this the picture was far from impressive

Would SVideo help/sort it? Can I output a 16:9 resolution as I can't work it out in PowerStrip? Is it worth just using a PC for *Cough* movies and just buy a DVD player for DVDs/SVCDs?

Before you ask - the carpet is getting changed as I've onyl just moved in to this room

Nice setup you've got there. Are those old Wharfedale speakers?
I really want a widescreen TV, but for the amount of money I could afford to pay for it, I'm doubting whether the quality would be as good as my current one.

I really want one of those £500 Loewe ones, but hey

DiVX will not look good through a telly simply cos it's compressed so much. It looks pretty poor on my TV in my room and even worse on our lounge TV, and that's just through composite. SVHS will only improve the quality of Windows through your TV
As for the 16:9, can't you just play the DiVX full screen and let the TV adjust itself? Works for us

Yup - they are, classic Wharfedale Lintons Need to change them though as one of the cones has been damaged (still sound great untill things get very loud).

Lower power Lintons + Denon 100Watt amp + empty house = Whoops.

Yeah - my TV does the adjusting but it crops and stretches just the image part of the film, this means the quality is worse than it could be. I've tryed stretching the image in Winamp and then it plays fine but I wanna be able to use myHTPC ideally.

Heheh - Don't want Eltax, just before XMass I went into a couple of shops to listen and I wasn't very impressed by them compared to the Wharfedale Diamond range
