I have recentley added a new monitor to my set up. Having previously been using a Dell 2405 I have now bought a NEC LCD3090WQxi which after much research I bought for my main (windows 7 - 64) rig. It's great for big screen gaming and web browsing - however at its factory settings it is horribly bright and makes my images look simply nasty.
I have a colorvision Spyder 2 Express which I bought a few years ago to set up my Dell - and it does a pretty good job on that. However when using it with my main system and the NEC it appears to make almost no difference to the set up at all and thus the image is still completely inaccurate.
There could be a possible solution which I am going to explore tonight - in a new download of the 64bit software, however my other system is running Vista64 and that appears to be fine with the original software.
I guess what I would like to know is in your experience would a device like the Spyder 2 express be capable of calibrating any screen to a good level or do I need to look at alternative means?
The alternative of manually calibrating the screen is very intimidating as the screen has plenty of options that I have not come accross beofore!!
