Just got my Panasonic 28" 100HZ BEAST

IT ROCKS - Plugged it in, type in some info - nice clean, crisp pic - good audio shocking how quickly it all just 'worked' (not seen a new TV in a home in ages!)

Got my Sony DVD500 [or whatever it is DVD setup and 5.1Speakers/Sub to go in - should be rather tasty]

Yeah, TVs are sorted now. Barely worth reading the manual on most of them, it takes much longer than just plugging it in and letting it get on with it.

Do try switching the 100Hz mode on and off if it lets you, it may be better without (although I haven't been keeping up with TV technology that much, maybe the algorithms are better now than when I last checked). I've never found flicker to be a problem on PAL TVs, although 60Hz on a monitor hurts my eyes very quickly. Odd.

Like rave says though tv's set themselves up perfectly now, i plugged mine in and left it autotuning while i had a fag came back and it was done.

the audio on this tv is pretty spiffing can't believe how good it sounds when music is playing, either that or my lounge likes audio....

I found the 28" widescreens too small, so I bought a 32" Philips Digital TV a few weeks ago. The sound is also very loud, very clear with loud bass.

inbuilt tv speakers are never *great*. they can be nice, but never *great*..

size of screen depends on the room size. my 28" widescreen looked good in my old living room, but a bit small in this one, hence why im considering an upgrade to a 42" rp beast

Panasonic TVs are indeed lovely David What model is yours? I expect it's pretty similar to ours. It's 28", 100Hz, etc

David if you think the built in speakers on thaty sound good, buy a Hi-Fi amp and a nice pair of speakers - you will be amazed

42" Rear Projection TVs have a poor picture quality, especially the Tohisbas. And from the slightest angle you wont be able to view the image on the screen properly, tis why I have a 32" CRT instead.

All the RP tv's ive seen are poor, that goes for plasma's too, LCD's are not great too - tho they do seem to be getting better at a rate of knots. Get far better results not to mention a consderably bigger screen going for a £1500-£2000 projector IMHO.

actually, you can set up a rp well if you've a good viewing angle for your living room, which i do. specially with the lights out they are nearly as good for viewing as a crt, and the effect you get from over double the screen area is amazing...

i agree that they normally look cr*p in shops but if you go into a specialist and get them to demo it to you they can really look amazing.
