I got in March and from a quicm look at my RS receipt it says they should swap over no questions asked in the first six months - I'm hoping they'll let me get a different brand tbh, even if it means me having to put that bit extra too.

As i mentioned up above, I'm not even sure how its happened its been in the same place since purchase, kept clean etc. OTOH, it appears I'm not the only one.

Gave RS a call and the chap wasn't the most forthcoming of people shall we say. I've basically been told to bring it and they'll get it repaired for me (if they can), my annoyance being i don't want it repairing given there is an apparent fault somewhere along the line and its under 6 months old! Not to mention it can't my eye last night that Denon have released a new '520' with "Improved sound quality" and "New higher quality speaker terminals
" under the 'new features' section.

If the receipt *says* swap, then *demand* a swap

It doesn't, but the last thing i want is for it to re-develop further on into the guarantee period - especially as their T&C's state after six months I must prove it was faulty. He also didn't seem impressed i no longer had the box, i wouldn't mind but it wasn't the smallest box in the world (and they're T&C's are only concerned with the box if you bring it back within 30 days from what I can tell).

So the issue is noise from the speakers and headphone out? How loud is this noise, is it noticeable when you have music playing or is it one of those things you notice in quieter scenes in a film? It could be the placement of your amp and maybe the power line? Im not expert, heck im more of a novice but thats what i was told mine was and i have it on one of my speakers but only when everything is off(apart from speakers ofc) but i havent been able to move them yet to see if i can get rid of it and if i cant then id swap it at RS with the 5 year warranty .

RS are great normally, in plymouth they are excellent very easy to talk to and any problems its a straight yeah lets sort it out, no faff but i guess it depends on store .

(oh and it seems that mine is the left speaker aswell , also left side of headphones!.)

Yep, i can hear the static both through the speakers and/or the headphone out. The noise is constant. As soon as i turn the amp on, even with no inputs connected its there. As for how loud it is, it varies. I can definitely hear it more the louder something is, and it goes louder the further i turn the volume nob up with nothing playing. Quiet programs are also a bane, last night i tried watching some of Brian Cox's stuff via iPlayer and it was really noticeable.

As for placement of the amp i'm not sure why it should be the issue as its been in the same place since i got it and it was fine up until maybe 2/3 weeks ago.

What do you mean by powerline, the socket its plugged into?

Re: Zak, g8ina, Lowe...you lot are a bad influence....

yeah sorry terb i meant the power line (power lead), but the way you describe it is certainly different and faulty. If you never noticed it before then yeah its a clear cut issue! I would point out though that when increasing volume you can expect to introduce some noise as its reaching the limits of its power which does create this feedback.

Go in to RS with it when you can as im confident yours is faulty!.
