RBX270 is a nice piece of kit... Before I bought my Gibson Epigraph, I was eyeing up a early version of it.Originally posted by th3 mol3
Got a Yamaha RBX270, which has served me very well... wouldn't mind getting a 5-string, though.
You're after a 5-stringer... Are you after the Low-B variant or the High-B version? Personally, if I were to get a 5-stringer, it'd be a Low-B...

Been trying to learn on and off for about a year now, always found the electric a lot easier than the accoustic (easier on the fingers if nothing else!).
Never could get the hang of reading tabs tho
Been playing 3 years
My Axe of choice is a V Type Peavey Exp, I've played a fair few guitars from fenders to les pauls to custom built samics and nothings come close to this beast!
Amp wise, I use a marshal combi 50 watts. Never needed more if the venues been too big it's been PA ed.
this is what it's all about (if you look close you can see my plec in my mouth while I'm tapping a solo!)
Don't really use tab sites, done it by ear from just about when I started.....
probably the only decent guitar i have played would have to be a patrick eggle berlin pro
after playing god knows how many jems, les pauls, strats, parker flys this is by far the bogs baws : )
got a beautiful takamine - best £500 i ever spent
Yeah, I'm after the Low-B variant. There's a few heavy songs I would like to play, but havn't got a 5-string for itOriginally posted by spikegifted

I would also like to learn some Dream Theater, but their bassist uses a 6-string (seen in my sig) due out next year. I might wait and get that
Super heavy bass rockz!! Some music from Korn (amongst others) is just like that... I don't have a 5-stringer to play them either.Originally posted by th3 mol3

so whats the musical tastes in here ?
mine range from gilbert, becker, moore, vai , satch, hendrix, srv, morse, helmerich.
used to play a lot of sweeped arpegio stuff but it all gets boring after a while and settled to playing a lot of blues : )
have a listen to the latest i recorded the other day

I like classical, radiohead, queen....
but have been playing johny b goode and stuff like that lately, a lot of spanish, I like learning new styles.
I have my ESP 7-string. Once you have that low B at your disposal, you NEVER want to go back It's a learning curve but ALOT of fun!Originally posted by spikegifted

I know... I was over at a music store during the weekend trying a Dean Edge 5!! And BOY! This thing shook my to the core!! That low-B is just plain sexy... I mean, the bottom-E already capable of making you 'feel' the music, but the B is just something else... All I have to do now is somehow put this idea into the Ruler_of_spike's head that I need another bass...Originally posted by Shorty

BTW, when I was trying out the Edge 5, another guy was trying the Dean Rhapsody 12 (12 string bass!!!) Dean seems to be reasonable made Korean guitars at some very reasonable prices - the Edge 5 was £279...
