    I've been to see live....

Kenny "Blues Boss" Wayne - seriously funky piano playing big lad.... my god he was good, and damned funny too. I'm ashamed to say he got me dancing away at the front with about 20 other people who had "The Groove" That was at the Big Wheel jazz festival in Laxey... a whole day of drinking ale, and listening to people jamming on the grass outside the Miner's tavern, then the gig in the evening...

    and.... my fave...

    CHESNEY HAWKES!!!

at the 2001 Aberystwyth Christmas Ball... and it was a right giggle

what a legend.. got to the front... singing along great feeling.. didn't even notice it was 5 below when we got outside on the way to the kebab shop

    Nice one Zak!

Had Grech's album not long after it came out and was fortunate to catch him at Butlins in 2003.

Not everybodys cup of tea, but he is truly talented. (Note - must put on Ipod to relieve boredom at work)

It's when you're at a live gig and suddenly realise that you have a huge grin from ear to ear, which you hadn't realised due to the way that you were caught up in the music - That's the one!

Sadly short of gigs this year, only Iron Maiden & Evanescene.

Hold did I really say only Iron Maiden?!

    MAIDEN

Significantly down from my days at Uni but a lack of Glastonbury tickets and being away during Download severely hampered things.
Still plenty more to look forward to.

Personally, I prefer gigs where there's a little more audience interaction rather than sitting around watching the band. Not that there's anything wrong with that - it's just not really my cup of tea.

However... saying that, my first gig was Meat Loaf at the Ninex (MEN Arena).

I've not too many gigs lined up, either - can't afford to go to any as I always end up buying merch from the stall after the gig. Alexisonfire/TheBled in December though :>

Heh I'm a value for money kinda guy. If I can only get to two or three gigs a year I want to make sure I get my moneys worth.

Best value metal gig I've been to so far : Ozz Fest '98(?!) - Sabbath, Ozzy, Slayer, Pantera, Soul Fly, Ministry, Foo Fighters and more. Why? Every single band had STUNNING sound expect Ministry. It's by far the best outdoor quality I've heard.

Best outdoor gig moment : Nine Inch Nails, Second Stage, Glastonbury 2000/1 (I forget which) - In the middle of sea of people, central to the stage, half-way to the sound booth. It was night, drizzling and cold outside the throng. Inside it was fantastic, water vapourising before it hit the crowd on the heat from the massed bodies and blazing spots. Everyone was as one with the band, everyone knew the words, and every member of the band played their arses off.

Talk about being on a high!
