the pure happyness that only comes from live music.

Sair and Auran and I went to a gig last night. It was Martin Grech, supported by Lloyd Williams and another act.

I had a stressfull day, got home in a hurry, so as to be on time, rushed out to walk the dogs, a single firework went off, one of my dogs ran off, and I was left in the dark and rain, with 20 minutes to go and no dog

Rang Sair, she got to my house, waited for anyone to ring about the dogs whereabouts and purely by luck someone grabbed it u the road, and rang. I whipped up the road anf grabbed my hound.

Stress levels down, I was read yin 20 mniutes, we grabbed pizza and ran for the car. Drove to collect another bod, and were just in time to sit for a cold one while the first act finished.

    Not calm....bit hurried....potentially not a good start.

But once you are in there....the world is shut out. Lloyd Williams was good, if unusual, and I brought a couple of his CD's (one for a friend here....Russ hope ya like it fella).

And then Martin Grech was on.

Now the "Limelight Theatre" in Aylesbury is not cellubrious, and I cant spell that either....you sit on the floor, in an old school hall, and expect a scary teacher to call out the Register like when you were 8!

But let me say....surrounded by friends, in the warm, with a cold beer, and your ears tingling with pleasure, your heart lift....your soul soars.

It took a matter of less than 2 hours to smooth my "karma" or whatever it is that gets prickly when you get wound up at work all day.

It was just heaven. Some new songs, perfectly played, and some older favourites. All accoustic...no band...just Martin and his guitar skills....and his voice. Oh his voice.

Just wanted to share it with ya. The pleasure that is live, soft, friendly music with your friends.

Would have been good to take Skii, and Knoxx and Russ I think. They'd have took it on I think. Might think on that next time

    Cheers

its cos of Sair...she introduced me to just HOW much music is on, in the town in which I live. Its on ALL WEEK LONG somewhere...some new bands, some old....some famous.

Its great to escape ...even if its average quality. But when its good....its goooood

Heh - saw Hoobastank couple days ago - not quite the same

Yeah - Live music is nice, although its allways better when its smaller ... seeing big bands in huge halls isn't as good simply because the acoustics is usually total junk

Gotta agree with all thats been said, live music is fantastic especially in smaller venues, don't get me wrong i loved slipknot slayer in the nia but there's something about seeing even a local band kick ass in a small club or pub that can be easily as exciting. Having said that though a venue the size of donnington is even better than those 2 combined

Have made it my mission over the next 12 months to see as many bands live as I possibly can, got 4 more bands lined up between now and january and those are just big named bands thats not counting all the small gigs i'll end up at.

There's just nothing like live music

Live music is great. My first concert was Fatboy Slim at a local school, and it were teh brilliant.
I went to 2 Simple Minds concert, one in Dec, and the other on my Birthday in July in the middle of a field, and it we excellent. There is something great about actually seeing the people you listen to play songs you actually know.

I'm off to see Regina Spektor in a few weeks with a charming ladyfriend, and it promises to be pretty damn good too.

Only proper gig I ever went to was Kenickie, about a month before they split. The gig I enjoyed most though was a rock band in a grubby little pub in Southampton, they were wicked

its the goosebumps. Its the shiver. Its the calmness that washes over you. I was laid ack on the floor, eyes half open, and Sair and Auran at my side, and a lad from work who frankly plays good good electric guitar. I looked his way...and he was trapped. His eyes were fixated, and I could see the rapt attention. To give that to a friend is the best thing. He's seen Martin Grech twice before with us. The first time in High Wycombe, at the White Horse...and the band was with him. and they were METAL...and he was hooked. Just £6 to get in, 2 beers...the night is made

Next gig was just like this one. Accoustic, small theatre, sitting on the floor chilling. That was April. He was gobsmacked that the songs he;d heard METALLED OUT AT 1 million decibels could sound so smooth, and curvacious

And Martin does his own take on the effects from the album, with his guitar, and while its diffferent...its the same.

And this third time for him (my 5th) was divine.

    I have goosebumps again. Heaven

    Im addicted to Gigs atm.....

Since a friend of mine dragged me to see The Counting Crows with him at the beginning of the year.
It doesnt matter who it is ur going to see, the atmosphere is absolutely amazing! None of the venues Ive been to are exactly pallatial - but you do totally forget about the real world once ur in that darkened hall/club and ur favourite music is being blasted at you performed by ur heroes!
This year aside from the Crows Ive seen Jet, Snow Patrol and Embrace. Also survived V Festival which Im very proud of.
The best gig has to have been Snow Patrol at Somerset House, fantastic outside venue - very intimate gig 300 people there max. Their latest video was filmed there!

Gigs coming up are Scissor Sisters tomorrow, Snow Patrol (again) in November and I managed to get Embrace tickets for March.
Sure I'll squeeze another couple in tho!
If you're not living on the edge, you take up too much room

Just saw Sarah McLachlan at Usher hall in Edinburgh, Angel played live was one moment I will remember forever...
Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
    But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
    I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.
