    LCD TV's for PC gaming

just been asked a question that I have no idea about.

Can a 17" LCD TV, which claims PC compatability, be used seriously in lieu of a monitor.

Its a space saving idea, for a kids bedroom, and the range in question is the LG LCD TV range, probably a 17" telly.

Do these have TV tuners built in? And if so, ARE they good enough to double as a PC monitor for Counter Strike?

I've never used one (yet) so need ya help please peeps

    Cheers

No problems that I know of mate, they merely suffer the same response times as normal LCD monitors, should be fine I would have thought

Check responce time/colour/brightness/dot pitch, if they are all ok and it has a vga/dvi input you are gonna be ok.

I'd have a look at the resolution too. If it's 640x480 or even 800x600 like some it won't really be useable for much. Try setting your monitor to 640x480 and trying to use Windows for a couple of hours - not fun. A not-very computer literate friend bought a 640x480 LCD TV/Monitor from PCWorld and was told it would be perfect as a monitor and could do all the things her CRT could, and then had a heck of a trouble returning it when she found the limited resolution.
