    Stupid Video Editing

    Hi,

Got loads of vids i'm trying to cut together, problem is some are landscape and others are portrait, so when i put them both into a movie, they're all streched in 1 direction or another. What i could do is extract the vids to bmp's, add black space around the edges, and re-encode as an AVI, but i cant find a program that will allow me to add black space around a picture in batch mode.

    Can anyone help me?

    Ben

I think exporting all the videos as frames is the long way round. You need to get them into the same aspect. Nearly all video editing packages let you crop and add black bars to your video. If not - use VirtualDub, its free.

create a new project at a higher resolution , import the video clips and drop them in as p-in-p on a second track , with background being black.

that way each video should sit in the middle of the screen with black borders wherever they are required.

i never work at less than dv res , 720x576 in UK.
