Once in a blue moon I will get the VCR cranked up. No DVD Recorders as yet, would get one if there was anything worth recording off the TV

the benefits of HDD though is being able to record two channels at the same time (sky+) on one machine. If sky_ came with a dvd recorder i think more people would get them

I still have a VCR that i rarely use, but i would like a HDD recorder, but i would need one with the ability to transfer files over to a PC for compression and archiving
