Proper Dance > * anyday for me

Ill listen to almost anything electronic - love it.
Goto all the major clubs regularly - Sundisential, GodsKitchen, Shaft on sundays ect...
The problem is with dance at the moment - its crap, really really bad.
There has been quite a lot of good Hard dance tunes lately, which is good, as i prefer this anyway
Hard Trance has also been good recently, and less of the cheese coming though. Thank god all that euro crap looks like its gone.
Hardhouse is alive and kicking as allways, along with techno.

And anyone who thinks Dance music is the music that comes in the charts i will happily hunt down (dont mention DJ sammy to me....)

Than again, i listen to a lot of rock music. Mainly more at home, its just not what i enjoy when i go out, cant really dance to it.

And on the drugs front - the drugs scene in dance music isnt much / anymore than what is in some of the other genres. You can find drugs in any scene if you look hard enough.

Well I used to DJ, used to only buy progressive house and that's all I'd listen to. As for now, well I don't DJ any more, I've opened my ears to lots of music I probably used to think was crap. Prog house is still my first love however, I'm just not arrogant enough to think it's the only thing worth listening to anymore!

Just want to pick up on the drugs issue. the thing that sets dance music apart in this respect is that you talk to any DJ / promoter and they'll tell you that the music and ecstacy go hand in hand. It's as if they were made for each other. Noone can deny that there are a far higher percentage of club-goers on pills than any other collection of people. That's the reason why clubs and 'repetitive beats' are singled out in the Government's 'war on drugs'
So, you can't blame people for thinking "Dance is for ecstacy popping idiots" It's just an incredibly small-minded way of thinking.

    Just my tuppence ha'penny

In terms of dance music, I only go for Techno, breakbeat and Drum n Bass (not mentioned as a category!).

But I listen to all sorts, bandwise mainly Indie, Punk and Metal

Regardless though, has to be said that Indie Girls beat every other girls in other scenes

    BK beats DJ Sammy
    Lisa Lashes beats DeeDee
    Stimulant DJ's beat Scooter
12" Thumpers beat DJ Quicksilver (lol)
Lee Haslam beat Kylie Minogue (not in bed tho, id take Kylie)

TIDY BOYS .... and girls... RULE the scene

Tidy boys let the occasional cheese tune slip though, which is ashame, but most of their albums are quality. Get some funny looks on the bus going to college with it blasting out

unfortunately no. I live in cumbria and its quite a trek to go anywhere, ALTHOUGH I am tempted to goto Gatecrasher at the N.E.C. on 29th Nov to see

BK, Lisa Lashes, Tiesto, Judge Jules, Armin Van Buuren etc.

£41 is a bit steep...and nobody will go with me cos most of my mates like indie and crap u know.. Oasis, Coldplay and Travis!!

    urggghhh...

Umm, the first thing I was introduced to when I was a kid was classical (by my parents - of course ).

Then I got into Pop/Rap/RnB at school.

Lately though, I've started enjoying dance/trance music a lot more. Its weird but in the past, electronic music without vocals used to send me to sleep lol..

I don't smoke, do drug, and drink with extreme moderation (two shot for the whole night? No problem... Low tolerance to alchohol can be useful at time ).

Personally, I don't like smoke. Nothing against smokers, but I do prefer to stay away from places with too much smoke).
    Oops, going OT ^^;
