think the original 190 might now be 190cl (classic), one pod i spotted as 190 (no letters after) was legs only, other designations might be for different centre colums and colours. The difference between models is quiet small, but I would probably buy one with a B desigation as black allwasy better for wildlife, or think they do a green one as well.

Right, eventually decided on the 460MG head (lighter) and bought one tonight...

Not sure what your budget is, www.warehouseexpress.co.uk are doing some of the velbon carbonfibre tripods half price. More than I would spend but might interest somebody.
