    tripod!

Ok - I have a reasonable point & click jobby (Fuji s5600) and am looking at going dSLR soon. I'm looking for a reasonable tripod to play with, hopefully one that will do the do when I upgrade to a proper camera. What I need to know from you guys is what do you recommend? I had a shufty at Jessops today but while they had a nice tripod I wasn't keen on spending £120 on it if you know what I mean!

I pick up my Benbo Trekker on ebay for £67 and it's great except it's a wee bit heavy ~2kg. There's quite a few around so i guess so might want to have a look.

It's a toss up between weight, stability & versatility with tripods. Oh, and cost.

How much are you looking to spend, because the sky's the limit!

velbon do some good ones around £60, sherpa range i think. worth looking at if you dont want to spend £100+.

one thing i would say is buy a good one and you'll never need to upgrade it. and yes there is a difference between the cheap ones and the posh ones. unfortunately most of us by cheap ones first then realiise we've wasted the money and buy a better one
