    video capture problem

I tried using 1394 connection to capture video from videocam to PC. But, eventhough my PC confirms that 1394 port is functioning good, my PC couldn't detect my videocam.

What should I do? Below is the list of hardware and software I'm using.

    Videocam : Sony DCR-PC350
PC: Athlon XP 2500, RAM 1GB
    MB (Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe)
    OS: Windows XP Home SP2
Video Editing OS: Roxio Easy Media Creator 7, Windows Movie Maker,
    InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2

    Thanks.

You could try using WINDV to transfer from cam to PC. It's free and simple.

Is there a way to tell the Sony to turn on its firewire port (i.Link in Sony speak)?

When i connected my Canon windows recognised it as new hardware etc. so if that isn't happening, trying other software wouldn't find it either.

With your Sony connected and powered up, what does your software tell you when you try to transfer the video? Device not found or something?

switch firewall on ieee1394 off , then switch the ieee1394 networking off.

    might work better now

I also have a Sony camcorder. I just installed the drivers for it then used Windows movie maker to pull the content off the tapes onto the PC. Once I had the avi file used nerovision express 3 to create a DVD.
