The A100 has the same mount as the old Minolta cameras (Minolta A-type mount) and a Minolta hot shoe for flashes. This gives a huge range of back catalogue lenses from Minolta and third parties. Sony also announced 19 new lenses at the same time as the camera (don't know how long it will take to get all 19 to market though)

noise handling with cameras is a big thing and the sony and nikon both exibit a fair bit of it above iso800...canon have developed a remarkable way of handling the noise upto and beyond iso800, worth considering if you factor in the type of shooting you expect to do.
