    problems with CORSAIR TWINX DDR2 4096MB PC6400 XMS2 (2X2048MB)

Last week, i put following memory in my new PC:

    CORSAIR TWINX DDR2 4096MB PC6400 XMS2 (2X2048MB)

Immediately, i've been having random bluescreens. First BSOD already came with clean-installing XP-Home!

Put my RAM to the memtest and almost immediately gave errors.

Then, i took one of the two memories out of the PC and tested a single slot.

After half hour, it gave 1 error. I still need to test the second RAM. But what if this one also gives errors? People tell me it's my motherboard, but that's a week old!

I did not overclock my RAM, GPU or CPU. I'm not an avid OC-fan and like to keep things normal.

    My specs:
    Antec Sonata III (new)
    gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 (new)
    AMD 9850 Phenom X4 (new)
    4,096 gig Corsair Ram (new)
    sapphire hd4850 512ddr3 (new)
    WD 640gig 32 cache (new)
    WINXP home

That sounds like a distinct memory issue. I'd ask for a pair of new memory sticks myself.

Can you list the settings you have made in the BIOS for RAM, CPU, and voltages?

    Newsflash!
I ran memtest86+ outside the OS. The other program was a windows prog.
Almost made two passes and still no error.
Other people also told me to up my RAM-voltage. But with how much?
    What is safe?

2 passes and no error, still. Lucky me!

My voltages are all set to default/normal. I'm not an overclocking kinda guy. But people tell me it might be necessary to increase my voltage for RAM.

My processor is an AMD 9850 Phenom X4 Black Edition. Does this have something to do with that 'ganged' or 'unganged' mode?

Did another test with GTAIV. This game gives me a crash after 4 or 5 minutes, every time.

This time, the BSOD said fault was in 'MEMORY MANAGEMENT'.
When i reboot Windows, it says that a Windows stop error was caused by a device driver. It says this every time the PC crashes. So, what the BSOD says is always different from what Windows says. Man...

I have to know the complete part number before I can answer this. However, it is printed on the side of the module and in the documentation for this kit.

If it's passing Memtest, then it is most likely not the memory.

    http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/T...096-6400C5.pdf

In this datasheet, it says that the RAMs have been tested on 1.9V. My bios setting was 1.8V.

    I presume i must raise this V-setting?

Yes, you need 1.9v memory voltage for this memory.

Tried GTA IV again. The game still locks up after 5 minutes, but didn't get a BSOD anymore. More voltage? 2.0? 2.1?

If i tweak my RAM voltage, do i also have to tweak other voltage settings?

    Isn't this dangerous?

So i got rid of the bluescreens when upping my ram voltage.
But still getting crashes with each game i play. Gta iv, crysis, the witcher,...

It seems the heavier the game, the faster it locks up.

    Also upgraded my bios.

What else is there to do???

This sounds as if it is related to power or possibly the video card. Can you list the PSU you have along with a link to the specifications?

I already tried two videocards in my PC: Sparkle Geforce 9500gt (fanless) and the one in there right now is a Sapphire HD4850 (dual slot cooling). But i've had the issues with both cards.

    The specs for the Sapphire:

    http://www.sapphiretech.com/us/produ...w.php?gpid=249

The specs for my Earthwatts 500:

    http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=NjU=

With the Sapphire, there's also a molex-to-6pin-PCIE included in the package. Should i use this or the standard PCI-E connector on the Earthwatts 500?

I also discovered my voltage for Nbridge = 1.100 volt and my Sbridge = 1.200 volt.
Is this high enough? Or is this not a part of the problem?

And hey, thanx for sticking around, Mr Yellowbeard.

Everytime i get an error, the code is the same: 0xc0000005

Last error GTA IV gave, was:

    AppName: gtaiv.exe AppVer: 1.0.2.0 ModName: d3d9.dll
    ModVer: 5.3.2600.5512 Offset: 00084611

    But every time it's different.

Changing from ATI to Nvidia or vice versa can cause issues if you did not use a driver cleaner utility. Also, at what point in all of this did you do a clean install of your OS?
