    CPU question

I;m looking to get a new cpu, probably an i5 2500k, but I have been offered on older i7 920 i think, for a reasonable price...is the i5 a better option as it is newer or is the i7 more powerful. Thanks

    Re: CPU question

Depends what you plan to do with your machine. The i7 920 is a brilliant CPU, just not so great with games. I found my Q9550 to be just as good as it with games(comparing my PC to my cousin's i7 920).

In terms of general use and gaming the i5 2500K is better, it is also better for future upgrades as Intel should release at least 1 more processor for the 1155 socket where as the 1366 socket is being discontinued.

    Here is a comparison between the i7 920 and i5 2500K: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/47?vs=288

Not much in it but over all I'd favour the i5 2500K myself, better upgrade options in the future and more gaming performance which is a priority for me.

Thanks, I think it'll be the i5 Route, seems very overclockable
