    Recommend me an online fps

Hello-Not owned a pc for long but did have 24hr access to one a few years ago. At that time i played a lot of cod and dod.
I now have a new pc of my own and plan on buying an online fps very soon. Problem is i cant decide which one-here is what im thinking...1 of.......

    Day of defeat
    call of duty2
    battlefield2
    battlefield 1942
    counter strike
    Red orchestra

Im leaning towards dod as i used to play this a lot and loved it but i hear it has completely changed?
Cod2-always has a lot of players and maps.
    battlefield2/battlefield 1942-dont know much about.
Counter strike-obviously i have heard of it but never actually played it!
Red orchestra-Read a couple of favourable reviews but a user review stated that not many people online.

Im looking for a realistic ish game with plenty of people online. I would prefer a game that wasn't filled with camping snipers or too many vehicles to run you over!!
Any ideas (even games not mentioned) will be appreciated.
    Thanks

ps-anyone know where i can see the game specs for dod source??

Get Half Life 2 with the mods, that way you should find some thing you like. Personally I play DoD-S, and have just started on project reality, its a mod for BF2, which shoulbe be cheap to buy. PR is bloody difficult, but had a really good battle yesterday defnding a base, must have lasted 30 minutes.

Dooms what Dod-s servers d oyou play on, will come and visit. I play under the name Flibb{OwP}, the tags still annoy some people

When I do get on I only play on Take No Prisoners servers.

    DoD Source 1: 87.117.201.193:27035
    DoD Source 2: 87.117.201.193:27040

I used to be in the clan with them back in DoD1 days but then stopped playing for months, when DoD:S came out I went back onto their servers, players may of changed but attitudes hadn't and everyone is a good laugh

Oh and I play under Dooms

Lately I've been playing a lot of BF2, got the new sniper unlock and it's ultra fun playing a sniper for a change, where I can sit nice and quietly in the distance and murder players from afar :>. Although moving targets are so much more harder to kill...

I think the bF series is OK, as long as theres mods for them. Biggest gripe is that they bring out an expansion pack every five minutes, that often include little more than a few maps and a gun or two.

I cant stand CSS (just my opinion I find that once you die it often involes a huge wait as two people camp each other out i actually fell asleep once playing CSS i found it that dull. I play HL2DM quite alot now, but thats about it. I dont much care for team based games as 99% of the time (unless your playing in a clan) they have no organization and are just turn into TDM, and often involve one of my pet hates the camper.

a vote here for enemy territory, its really good game. Couple of weeks ago i was playing it non-stop, just a pity theres alot of cheaters on it

I cant understand why ppl recommend bf2142 over bf2, theres a few tweaks which are nice and the unlocks are cool but kinda annoying when you think i could have won a fight if had that unlock, but overall the gameplay is nowhere near as good as bf2

What do you mean "get half life 2 with the mods"? does this mean buy the game and dowload the mods or can you buy a game with the mods already?-I did say I was new to pc gaming

Also-No one recommending cod2 or red orchestra? I have been reading a fair bit about RO since starting this thread and it all sounds pretty good tbh-although i obviously dont know how many people playing it.Anyone able to tell me a bit more about this game?
