    Decisions, decisions..

There is only one question i need to be awnserd and that is simply which one is better, i have ordered a custom computer designed for gamers and i dont know if i should put my Geforce FX5500 in or stay with the Sapphire X1550 PCIE because i simply have no idea which one is best. I have looked at videos on youtube showing examples of the X1300 and found that it seems to be quite powerfull but i cant be too sure if the X1550 will be the same, so in search of an awnser i have come to this site. I usually like to play games such as Black & White 2, Battlefeild 2 and i will soon be playing (when it comes out) World In Conflict so basicly i just need some honest advice. Some of my games work ok with the FX5500 but i cant tell if it is powerful enough, but i was hoping the new pc with all that extra space and the graphics card would improve my gaming experience. The specs for my custom PC are..

    Processor: CPU 3.0 DUAL CORE(6.0GHz)
    Hard Disc space: 250Gb
    RAM: 2Gb
    DVD Drive: DUAL LAYER DVDRW
MotherBoard :ECS 662/1066T-M2 662/1066T-M2 (one of the most advance and unique modules of ECS production)
    Operating System: Windows XP

The Specs for my current PC are..

    Processor: Intel Pentium 4
    Hard Dic Space: 40Gb
    RAM: 512
DVD Drive: Unkown (came with the PC)
Motherboard: Unknown (same reason as previous)
    Operating System: Windows XP

I just need to know, is it my current computer that is slowing my Graphics down, or is it the Graphics Card it's self if it is the computer could you please tell me which Graphics Card is better.
Any information will be greatly appreciated

    Re: Decisions, decisions..

ok thanks alot, has anyone actually played black and white 2 with the X1550 card? I really need some sort of idea of how it will look and how smoothly it will run, and is it near the high end rating compared to the high end nVidia cards?

    Re: Decisions, decisions..

The X1550, while miles better than on outdated card like an FX.is on the budget end of graphics cards. However, that game is maybe not that demanding, so you might not have to turn down too much details..

    Re: Decisions, decisions..

Just out of intrest, where did you order the system from because they seem to have come up with some very amusing marketing infomation lol

Also the x1550 will play the games you want to play but its pretty underpowered especially for newer games such as world in conflict - however you obviously you'll want to keep within budget - just a thought though, i dont know how far along your order is but have you considered building your own? its very simple (easier than most ikea furniture lol) and you will get all the help you need here. That will result in the exact system you want that you can repair and service yourself

And that doesn't belong anywhere !

I'd seriously encourage you to look into it a bit more, especially if you're looking for a gaming PC. As nvening says, you'll get pointed in the right direction here if you give a little more info. Whether you feel confident enough to build it yourself, or you want a pre-built system, people here will help

    Yeh i would be intersted
    - as to where u ordered this from
    - what you paid
    - what specs your getting

If your getting for gaming, i jsut dont think the x1550 will cut the mustard. I could be wrong but im not even sure if its much better than my x850xtpe i bought 2 half years ago..

    Re: Decisions, decisions..

what a dreadful specification. you're being conned, tbh

the fx5500 was slow when it was released, a good few years ago. the x1550 is a bottom-end card right now

the pc you list doesn't meet the minimum requirements for new games you really want to play like bioshock (the bioshock system requirements specifically say the x1550 can't run the game whilst the x1300 can)

and the mention of 3ghz dual core to me suggests pentium-d which is a pretty crappy, long-superceded processor

    the x1550 is actually a re-badged x600.. so your x850 destroys it.

actually, this is a flat-out lie. this board is a bottom-of-the-range, mATX (i.e. not very expandable) board with a SiS (i.e. crap) chipset with slow networking capability (everything comes with gigabit these days and has done so for years) and slow disk capability (only sata1, sata2 has been around for ages). it also only supports an 800mhz fsb without overclocking, which means the only modern processors which will definitely work are the budget E4x00 series, not the current E6x00, E6x20 and definitely not the faster x6x50 series.

2x3GHz is not equal to 6GHz, and sounds a lot like something a Pc World advert would say.

    Re: Decisions, decisions..

look guys i just need to know if it's better than my current PC thats all lol i could be getting a new GFX card though with a £100 limit i dont really want a really fast PC i just want a PC that can bare the weight and my FX5500 seemd to run world in conflict quite well when the Beta was open . But there were only minor problems that i didn't like, i just needed a faster card to get rid of thoes little annoyances, but seeing as i might be getting a new card with a budget of £100 i would like some suggestions of any cards that would thrash the X1550. Thanks for all your help guys . I baught it off my freind as a punishment because his parents caught him downloading pornography (re-installed the PC so no viruses btw he lives about 45 miles away but we speak on msn so we are close freinds) so his parents offered to sell it to me for £420 over an ebay account. Btw i'm only 15 so i havn't had much experience with computers so go easy on me

And also how well does a geforce 8600 256mb PCI-E graphics card run, coz i just found out that could be in my price range

it would take the x1550 round the back, shoot it through the head, dismember it, devour two legs and an arm, play football with its head, and **** down the torso's neck

as for what it'd do to the fx5500, well that would potentially be offensive
