Picked this up for the 360 today , after Crysis made my computer cry figured this would do the same , really good game let down by teammate ai in single player but a good blast all the same.

    Re: cod4 Thread

I got the 360 version yesterday, had a quick blast last night and let me tell ya, Veteran mode is a wee bit tricky!

It is a bit linear mind you, it's what you expect from an FPS these days. A story you tend to skip and lots of people to shoot. I haven't played the game online yet and I think that's where it'll really shine.

Picked up the PC version today. Very linear as Parm mentioned, its very much more of the same. Though, should be said, some of the visuals are really impressive, in particular the stage where you follow the sniper dude.

    Re: cod4 Thread

Yeah got this on PC today the sniper mission in Pripryat is awesome. Very linear but good fun, especially the SAS missions and the SPECTRE gunship one.

Also there seems to be a lot of Voodoo Envy laptops in the middle east, odd that

    Re: cod4 Thread

Just completed it on the middle difficulty (forgot the name of it). There was plenty of very similar stuff, but that's always been the case with COD, I've felt. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed COD4 from start to finish though. I actually watched all of the story filler, and ended up feeling quite captivated by the whole cinematic feel to the game.

I'll definitely play through it again on the next level up. Haven't looked at Arcade mode either.

    -edit

    The PC version, btw

    Re: cod4 Thread

Ive done the first 4 missions on veteran and I'm halfway through the 5th. It is very hard though and I think I will have to drop down the level below to finish it.

    Re: cod4 Thread

Did anyone else notice the theme during the ending credits? Rapping about infitinty ward and Ssgt Griggs. I thought that was amusing. The plane level at the end was fun too.

The plot was surprisingly good I thought and this game needs to be played on the harder difficulties, lot more frenetic and engrossing, like all COD games, you'll keep coming back again and again.

    Re: cod4 Thread

has to be one of the most linear games ever.. but nonetheless, its all fun from start till finish..

and mind you guys, isn't it a little short? I mean, its REALLY short.. like it was over before you know it..

Visuals are great, there are some blemishes here and there.. but hey, its a very cool looking game..

Love the spectre mission.. those 25mm chainguns and the 105mm cannons are AWESOMEEEEEE!

    let me rephrase... AAAAAAAWWWEEESOOOOME!

Please, I havent had so much fun clicking on things where I need minimal effort to aim and have so much pitch black evil enjoyment..
    Me want Ultrabook

    Re: cod4 Thread

Arrived for PC on Thurs. Finished the single player on hardened last night and been playing plenty of mp in and around it too. Thought the single player was a tad short, but I loved every bit of it. The storyline, vocals, music and visuals were fantastic, and i'll more than likely be playing it all through again

As with previous CoD games, the seemingly infinite respawns can be a little frustrating in places, when you want to push through tactically and not have to rush it through swarm of bullets. I understand it makes the frantic gameplay what it is, but I would love a seperate mode (like the Arcade Mode) where you could play through with a limited number of spawns.

Multiplayer is great too, been playing with most of my old clanmates from cod1 who are all lovin' it, and the ranking system helps keep you coming back for more.

    Looks like a winner

    Gotta love the stereotypes

British SAS: Hard nosed, sarcastic, loyal and hard as ****ing nails
American Marines: Simply outgun them, strength in numbers, very Team America '*** yeah' attitude.

Love the sarcastic comment about the loyalists in the second British SAS mission
