    oh..nearly forgot...the PERSPECTIVE is good...2003 failed for me cos the levels were not that big, but they LOOKED big..as players ran away, they shrunk too fast.....to give it a sense of scale..and it failed...

    on this one...when someone smipes at you from a long way away, they ARE a long way away.....blumin miles away.

    the only thing that bugs me is that the weapons don't degrade over a distance - How many peeps are using the electric gun as a long range sniper rifle?

    Would be better if it lost its strength over range - we want up close and personal fragging; Not tent toting noobs hiding in corners.

    the electric gun IS a long range sniper rifle...

    hence the sniper scope on it...

    Exactly, and if you know the dodge and wall dodge moves you can avoid snipers most of the time anyway.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    AND you can see where the shot come from.
    The LG is easy to avoid. Use your shield to absorb the shot, before giving them one back !

    makes it less of an infinitely powerful weapon. rocket-type weapons like the redemmer & avril can be shot out of the air if people try. fire a redeemer at an enemy node, they can either turn & shoot, or loose the node - but in the meanwhile, your team can send them to hell while they aim at your redeemer, and they die & lose the node anyway

    there's a whole lot of strategy in 2004

    Yup - right click and aim at yer man whilst he's charging the link. You can also use it repair vehicles Same half of the Noobies I end up on my team think that any weapon will do it - Plebs sit there wasting ammo shooting their own link!

    only the guy at the end of a link uses any real amounts of ammo - so if you have a chain 4 long, things get built VERY fast, but only one guy is using up his ammo. if you break the chain, or have a forked chain, then everyone who is at _AN_ end of the link uses lots of ammo.

    3 or 4 person links = teh win

    what a depth of play and what a great idea.

    Hats gottacome off to them for this game.....and it IS a game..it felt like fun, even when getting whooped.

    The interior structures are divine...and the idea of hitting M or N to get a "phantom coloured cloud" to lead you home to base is perfection.

    Its gonna be SO BIG, and it deserves all the success

    that was the key to UT - the fun came in playing, not neccessarily winning.

    Hmm, just downloaded it.. installed.. runs ok on my aged system in 1280x960.

    But.. it just didn't do anything for me. Seemed just like UT2003, a game which I thought was a let down, so 2004 just adds insult to injury. It's the same as far as I can tell only with a few minor graphics updates here and there and a few new levels.

    OK, they added vehicles in, but the gameplay remained the same for me. Within 15 mins I'd seen enough and dumped it. Won't be buying this one - made that mistake with UT2k3...
