the whole perspective looks a tad out, if u go right up next to a team member u seem to tower way over them. And I think the explosions and weapons are not even as cool lookin as quake 3
"The less you eat, drink and buy books; the less you go to the theatre, the dance hall, the public house; the less you think, love, theorise, sing, paint, fence, etc., the more you save – the greater becomes your treasure which neither moths nor rust will devour – your capital. The less you are, the less you express your own life, the more you have, the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being." Karl Marx

Unreal 2003/04 is a bit naff I think, sure it looks pretty and a lot of hard work gone to it but its too....stupid. There isnt any adrenaline rush or think twice before u do something. Its just shoot anything that moves. And its far too quick, Im a realist. I like a challenge and I dont think Ureal does it.

First off - 2003 is not the same as 2004. It has changed a lot.
How is the game "too stupid" ?, whats so stupid about it ?
Shoot anything that moves - yup, provided your not on the same team. But then again, maybe you've not played Onslaught or Bombing run which requires a higher skill level of teamwork than probably any other game type Ive played.
Speed wise - 2004 is much slower than 2003. I loved 2003's speed, problem was, not many people had the quick reaction speed needed to play the game. Fortunately (for me), its not one of the games you can see someone, think what to do for 30 seconds, then do it. You need to think about things much faster !
Well you've pointed out a few points as to why its "too stupid", but then say its not a challenge. It sounds more like you cant rise to the challenge !

/me curses all ths modern realisic nonsense games of late

UT was a classic, to be held up and lauded as one of the greatest titles on the PC.

the reason i _LIKE_ what i've seen of 2004 is that it feels more like UT than 2003 did (which was as close to Quake 3 in feel as they could get). the pace feels JUST right in 2004 - though the Assault mode leaves you feeling a little helpless compared to on UT original.

UT was a gentlemans' game. Quake 3 was the arcadier game. I felt 2003 missed this.

Comparing the 2003 and 2004 demos here. 2004 is far too sluggish for my liking especially after playing on difficult settings with zoom on in 2003

The weapon designs didnt need changing and imo look worse now. Its really dissapointing. Onslaught and Assult are welcome additions- definatley good fun. Vehicles seem tacked probably due to the sluggish speed and flawed controls.

even tho this is only a demo i think this game is gonna ROCK i love it its the first time in ages ive enjoyed using normal weapons as i normally just play insta dms but i cant seem to stop playing this and im looking forward to the full version where i would expect the graphics and such to be top notch
i agree its got more of a original ut feel to it,im yet to try onslaught mode yet but my 6yr old son likes that game and he hasnt even touched call of duty since i installed this demo so it must be good lol

First off Im just expressing my opinion and my opinion does not/should not represent/reflect the truth...(unless u take it personally)

If I spent as much time playing Unreal then I do Playing the drums, I'd be a pro and get paid for it. I THINK its stupid because I dont like playing games where the laws of physics just go out the window(give or take a few exceptions). Being able to jump and then jump some more? riiiiiiiiight. You cant seem to use/learn new ways to exploit the enviroment(maps, weather surroundings...) to ur advantage, and in some cases the map ends up just being a hall. Woo lets all play Tig.
It reminds me of primary school.

Its one of those games where you shoot eratically and "hope" you shoot something and its the same on every map give or take a few objectives...

    REALISM.

Im sorry folks, this games(s) just doesnt do it for me. Hate me if you want I dont care, Im too busy playing Afro-Cuban Rhythms...

Quite a few things have been said that I think are wrong. I think 2004 (DM at least) is faster, the air speed has been made quicker.

There are new ways of exploting the terrain and maps as you play longer.

STEVE - Why is the control system flawed, I think its a great control system. There isn't any problems apart from the flying vehicles can sometimes get into a twist when you take off.

    G4 PowerMac - Tiger 10.4 - 512MB RAM
    MacBook - 2Ghz - 1GB RAM - 120GB HDD

    Rotel RC970BX | DBX DriveRack |2x Rotel RB850
    B&W DM640i | Velodyne 1512

Walk through the long corridors on the DM level, and see how slowly you seem to be moving down them. It just feels like it should be a little bit faster to me.
And i definitely preferred ut2003's movement system, it felt so much more "smoother". However, everything else in ut2004 i think is better.

The only major issue they need to sort out now is player scaling and player visibility.
