rumble is an overrated feature imo... all it really does is make your batteries run out a hell of a lot faster
I wont mate, I just don't see why people can't honestly talk about these 2 consoles. Why do some people insist on this infantile bickering, never giving an inch? If your console has weak points, which every console does, admit to them.
Just blindly saying '360 rulez' if you have a 360, or 'PS3 rulez' if you have a PS3 makes you look like a chump.
There are tons of forums full of bickering children, who know nothing about video games, but spend all day ranting about them. If thats your level, **** off and use one of them. If you can discuss the consoles, the games, etc, in an adult, intelligent manner, stay here with us.

Anyone disagree with that statement?
Zak summed this up to me very well in the past. He said sometimes you buy a product and you think its going to be the best thing since sliced bread, sometimes its great and you can go on about things while still seeing and pointing out the slight weaknesses.
Sometimes you buy a product that you think will be awesome and isn't, yet you still feel you need to justify your purchase and go on and on about how good it is. But you refuse to see the weaknesses as it makes you look a fool for buying this.
I'm suprised that no-one has raised the issue with the backward compatability going walk about on the new ps3 model, to me it just shows Sony views the UK market with contempt. They've taken out hardware from the ps3 and i'm really shocked that this really hasn't caused more people to take a negative stance.

Que?
Heh no you're right - Hexus has always been about intelligent discussion - sometimes it can get heated but anyone who is just asserting 'PS3 ownz' or 'Christians all believe the world was created 6000 years ago' etc. isn't contributing to discussion and should hold back from commenting.Anyone disagree with that statement?
Personally I am glad they have taken out the ps2 compatibility if it means I save £100 or whatever it is off the price off a PS3. For starters I have a ps2 already, secondly I have little to no inclination to play my old ps2 games. For those that do want that feature fair enough, spend the extra on getting an older ps3 with that feature, or wait and see if Sony bring out a new model that does, or quite simply go buy a cheap ps2 if you dont have one already.
i stated reasons why the ps3 is better. i diddnt just say ps3 is the best without any reason. read my post carefuly. i mentioned things that where imo advanatges over the 360 and ebcause i have both i am in a better position then probably you to judge these sorts of things unless you yourself have both consoles. or played both consoles for a few weeks etc.
i have talked about these consoles and i sue to love the 360 actualy. i use to mock the ps3 but now that i have my hands on one and see a brigth future with it, i see it being the better console.
you need to re read what i said on my story to becoming a ps3 user for you to fully grasp the content in which i wrote. if the same thing happened to you i highly doubt you would still be supporting the xbox 360 console unless your a devoted fan of MS or a brainless person.
I quite agree. It's been the same since the days of the speccy vs Amstrad, Atari vs Amiga and NES vs MS and I doubt it will ever change. People feel the need to defend what platform they've bought and it will always end with vicious name calling and if we're lucky a cage match fight on a pay-per-view sports channel
edit: I've got to be honest, I was looking at the deals on the PS3 earlier on in the week.
Unfortunately all the deals seem to be centred on GTA at the moment, which isn't my cup of cha.
I only need a couple of games which really interest me and aren't available on the 360, thought I'd found one in Time Crisis 4 (I can't resist a good light gun game, I even bought HotD3 on the old X-box with a lightgun, TC1 + GunCon1 on PS1, TC2/Ninja Assault +GunCon2 on PS2 and HotD2 +gun on DC) but alas, the reviews I've read have been less than favourable.

Of the two consoles, the one that appeals the most at the moment is the 360. I just don't rate the ps3 game library at the moment: it really needs big blockbusters like FF13 and MGS4 to come out. The 360 has a lot of good stuff already, although I've noticed that most of the big-name 360 games are released for PC eventually (Gears, Assasin's Creed, Mass Effect).
Untill the Dual Shock 3 is widely available I wouldn't touch a PS3. Contrary to whoever doesn't think rumble is an important feature, I really rate it. I can remember playing Shadow of the Colossus for PS2 and the controller rumbling when the grip meter is running out. When it's used properly it can really add to the game experience.
Not sure if backward compatibility is a major issue anymore. I never gave it a thought when i got rid of my PS2 & all the games i had (bar one, Rez) and i probably won't mind when i do the same with the next generation. Its hasn't effected MS that much either. Sony's move to make the console cheaper is something they've done in every generation so far, (take bits out) this one seems to have worked well so far seeing as they are now out-selling the 360 in Euroland.
In the AoC thread you complained that TiG had told you to shut up, and wondered where the mods were. Now your calling Stewart Brainless, hows that not being rude? Hypocrite? Oh yes.
I was just wondering. I was reading the PS3 questions POST and saw the bit on getting a picture with a monitor.
I have a PHILIPS TFT monitor the max resolution is 1280 x 1024 and a max refresh rate of 75.
I have only a DVI cable coming out the monitor, it cannot be removed.
No way is it HD ready.
I'm pretty sure that with an XBox 360, with the help of a HDMI to DVI adapter I could get it working.
But with a PS3 you would need a HD ready TV only?

I actually did this for GTA4 with an Xbox360, I like the PS3 and will buy one eventually, but I dont like paying more than about £200 for consoles.
Had been pondering a new console for a while though, but none of the games screamed buy me. If you have the money go for it. I did and I think it was worth the money. Getting a dvi output and sound together is a bit tricky as the main composite plug on the xbox covers the HDMI port just enough that the cable wont fit.
For me it was just a matter of moving to the front room rather than the PC, something to bear in mind though, I'm sure there's a way to do it, but I've not looked yet tbh.
