Guys - recommend me a strategy game

    I'm bored, so bored

I need something big to get my teeth into, lots of strategy, something
that needs some thought and planning, kind of like Red Alert (but not that becuase I've been there got the T-shirt.)

I've got Medieval TW but that wore off tbh, I've had a look around and Warcraft looks intereting, but I don't know anyone that plays it..

Any recommendations - what strategy games have glued you to your monitor 24/7 ?

Warcraft 3 is good, but nothing new. Multiplyer is a laugh though.

I'd personally suggest checking out Sudden Strike 1/2 (or Blitzkrieg). WW2 RTS, very slow and tactical. And none of this base building rubbish.

Warcraft III is superb, has me going for ages! Also, it may be a bit old, but Age Of Empires II is still a classic!

I know it's not technically a strategy, but Splinter Cell takes lots of thinking and is my fave game of the moment. I won't put this one down quickly!

I would recommend Warcraft III, as the limit on the size of your army makes you think more about what you're building, unlike in Command & Conquer when it can just turn into a very slow, huge, boring battle, trying to churn out as many units as you can (but I'm still playing Generals at the moment )

and the AI lacks what I call Intelligence.....

Homeworld 2 might be worth checking out - or if you're tight, get homeworld for £5!

I think its a quite good game but not brilliant. All my friends play it though, so I do as well!

no, no, no wait for but i recommend that you get in this order shogan: total war, medieval: total war wait for a few months and then get rome: total war (april - september not sure...) and no i don't work for activision or creative assembly.

its just that i don't even like rts games but these are the best...

Warcraft III had me hooked, I liked that. Unfortunately I had a hard disk failure, lost all saved games, can't be arsed to go back to the beginning again But I might, I just might.....

I can't wait for Rome: Total War to be released. Time Commanders really wet my appetite.

Where to get one from, I don't know. But once loaded you can select the levels you want to play so just go back to the one you last done.

If you didn't get any further than the undead ones then you can have mine. Haven't had the time lately to play it and that's as far as I've got after losing my saved games too.
