Do we have any DotA players that have given DemiGod a go? I'd be interested to hear a comparison from someone's who's actually played DotA for a while, I think it's one of those games that takes more than few go's to appreciate it's depth.

I have only played Demigod briefly so far (though that will soon change) and play DoTA a fair bit. The gameplay mechanic seems very similar, and while the skill and item builds are no less comprehensive, they are made a little simpler to understand.
Cool. I've been waiting for a DotA type game that isn't just a graphical update of DotA so it sounds like it might be worth a try. Plus, I'm assuming the online community is a step up from the usual DotA crowd
Probably, "noob - where was help?" and the likes...
A gameplay video of Oak, for anyone that hasn't seen Demigod in action. In two parts:

Enjoy!
Another gameplay vid here, massive filesize though! http://forums.demigodthegame.com/351324
Unfortunatley with the connection problems I can't recommend buying the game at the moment. There is hope this will be fixed very soon though.
So what is the multiplayer system, is it using gpgnet (the bane of my Sup Com days) ?
It's Stardock's system isn't it?
Yes it uses Stardock's Impulse Reactor.
Just got the retail version.. the manual is surprisingly down-to-earth..
So you've bought your game, brought it home, installed it and something isn't working right? Didn't those losers test this game?
<snip>
Make sure you have the latest version of the game. New versions of games often remove lines of code like this:
pCrashOnBillJohnsonOfVirgina->(true);
News for you. The update yesterday has fixed the connection issues for the majority of players. It is now much easier to get a game going. So I can now recommend the game to everyone. I had 3 very fun and very tense matches today, great stuff!
If anyone is interested in joining a clan for this game you could do worse than these: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/352288
Also, ESL has a Demigod section for tourneys, ladders setc if you already have a clan or group: http://www.esl.eu/eu/demigod/
The demo is finally out, 4 demigods, all 4 game modes, 1 map and online multiplayer. Get it on impulse http://www.impulsedriven.com/ or fileplanet http://www.fileplanet.com/203030/200...o/Demigod-Demo or gamers hell: http://www.gamershell.com/news_81176.html?gr_i_ni
Why are demos coming out so much later than the game these days? It's almost encouraging piracy, the only way to 'try before you buy' is know a friend with the game, or pirate it :S
Wait what, it must have been at least 2 months since the game came out, that's pretty steep.
