Half Life sucked. Boring game. Don’t understand all the fuss about that game?!

Quake 2 was OK, but got very repetitive.

    Best FPS of all time:

    Aliens VS Predator 2
    Doom
    Doom II
    Duke Nukem 3D
    Heretic
    Hexen
    Hexen II
Hexen II - Portal of Praevus
    Unreal
Unreal - Return to Na Pali

I’m going to start playing C & C Renegade. Is it any good?

Is it? Blimey, you're good then. I was doing OK til I got to Zen, then I got a bit fed up with it. Did eventually manage to finish it though. Have played all the add-ons and mods several times, but the main game only once. I thought the 3 'They Hunger' mods were the best.

    I thought it was brill.

    Hhmm...
Yeah I know what you mean.
Maybe you just didn't have a good sleep before you started playing.
It happens to me aswell, with any game, if I haven't slept well before.

Unreal 2 - definitely way too short, and I'd ditch all the flashy graphics in the world for a game with depth, length and atmosphere.

Unreal - a superb game. In fact, reinstalled it only a month ago and have been playing it on and off. The good thing is, it's so old there's no problem cranking all the gfx and resolution up to full. It still looks dated and pixellated, but not bad. The music rocks, it is still a challenge, and I love the length.

Let's face it, apart from multiplayer modes, most FPS don't have any replay value. Too many games are like that these days, and the fact that they're so short makes me feel like I'm getting short changed.

I really miss the length and story and atmosphere of some of the classic games from way back. Monkey Island, Wolfenstein, Shadow of the Beast, Frontier Elite, Flashback, Turrican 2 (and so many more) - they might be dated now, but back then those guys used all the available skill and technology to full extent, along with creativity.

Today, it seems developers think they can get away with using technology to cover up for a lack of creativity. What we should be seeing is vastly superior games in every way. Using the tool of advanced technology to enhance the experience of a truly creative game.

    Sigh

    Rant over.

    No-one's listening anyway!

Unreal was graphically amazing at the time...the actual gameplay was pretty dull though (although the mothership levels were great).

Unreal 2 was very poor, I wasnt very impressed with the graphics and the physics engine was very limited. Never mind the gameplay - it got boring very quickly. I did like the ending though, and the black hole weapon was original.
