One A500 game I miss was Activision's Hunter. It wouldn't work on the A1200.

Absolutely astounding. An open-world 3d 3rd person adventure game with drivable vehicles from bikes to helecopters. Well ahead of its time. I'd love to play it again.

If you have a HDD in the A1200 you can use WHDLoad to install incompatible games and play them. Seems Hunter was patched to work, Link

Yup - I remember playing it from HDD back in the day. Worked fine with the patch. Was a great game too.

I need to make up an adaptor to connect it's RBG output to a VGA connector. Then see if any of my aging CRTs can sync to it.

Back on topic, I had an Atari ST520fm. So I would get publicly stoned if I posted in this thread. I also thought that both the Atari and Amiga where seriously lacking when compared to an A3000 running RISC OS 3. Possibly still the best OS I have ever used.

Likewise, I was a huge fan of RISC OS. The sheer speed of it is amazing. I still have mine up the loft (and some old RISC OS 2 chips )

Not just the speed of it, some of that credit should go to the ARM. My favourite bit was inter-application transfer. I had reason to use a mac during the peak of my use of RISC OS and found using the clipboard to put pictures in a word document really clunky.

Of course as a programmer, I was also a big fan of BBC Basic v5.
