Torchlight may be worth a look although I don't know much about it tbh.

Dungeon Master is a free download now I think and is quite good fun although it must be coming up to 20 years old.

I'm working through DA:O atm and I must say with the limited mechanic explanations it feels just like a console port.

Gotta Agree, My favourite RPG's ever go. KOTOR 1 & 2 (I count them together) Followed by the Witcher, Followed by Oblivion. Which I now play on my Netbook XD

Torchlight, although enjoyable is more in the diablo 2 vein but with less plot.

What about japanese rpgs like the final fantasy series or i quite enjoyed the last remnant.

Definitely Gothic 1 & 2, superb story in an engrossing world. Don't be put off initially with the interface/controls as it will soon become second nature. Can be got very cheap from GOG website.
