hehe well i hope cs 2 doesn't appear but then that would be the ideal world. But HL2 does look as if it has a story to match that of the first one. Will have to wait and see what it's like before i buy it.

Why is everyone so insistant that AI is better than scripting? Everyone went loopy over the original HL BECAUSE of its scripting. I'd far rather have an enemy that reacts intellegently and suprisingly to me but offers smaller replay value to one that is able to do everything for itself but is consequently limted in what it does. How many times do you really play FPSs anyway? I feel a few scripted sequences are exactly what FPSs need, enemys doing things that are TRUELY suprising and amazing because the programmer thought "right well in this instance THIS is here and THAT is there and if A does THIS to THAT that'd make a great sequence" rather than people going "UMG HE DUCKED AND HE DID IT ALL BY HIMSELF" and then being forced to watch the badguys just do the same thing over and over again because that's all he can do, he's got no set instructions for this specific scenario.

Of course a mix would be ideal, but is AI really that good yet?

Call of Duty is a god example of non scripting working, certain soldiers will hide for cover, other will run to a spot where they can snipe you, other just turn tail and run. Makes it a whole new experience when you go in charging firing everything you got and you get them hiding then returning fire at you. Makes things unpredictable instead of scripted where you play it once, go back through the game to see what you missed etc and they do the same thing, makes the game predictable

I'd love it if CS2 shows... Hoping it doesn't pull a TF2 or CS:CZ though... Condition Zero was over-hyped big time, and it was a major disappointment... Come on, Akimbot has better AI than the bots in CZ....

the only big thing that will put me off HL2 would be steam...its such a poor program and if we are forced to use it in HL2 for multplayer then it looks like HL2 will be single player only for me...why go from a system that worked to using a steaming pile of sh** ;/

just watched the 13 minute hl2 video from e3 2004 it is excellent!
the graphics do look as good if not better than last years e3
the crane we were talking about is so cool you can use it to lift up big metal things and drop them on peeps hehe
also they show a clip of cs2 it looks very nice,
the have a map that is exactly the same as aztec sept on the hl2 engine so amazing graphics and physic, they havnt changed anything exect the graphics in the whole clip. the terrorists plant the bomb where they would in the original and the cts take them out it is very nice indeed.
i want to see some dodage 2 tho

I'm doubtful that TF2 will ever come out, seeing that it was announced what, four years ago? They've got screenshots, but not much information at all on a release date, etc...

I aint fussed in the slighetst about CS2 - which is kinda a wierd thing to be sayin since i'm still a die hard CS1.5 player. I just dont see how they can make it work..CS1.6 was pants, and i doubt that CS2 will fix all its problems and it will almost certainly only work through steam

TF2 on the other hand should be cool, they aint broke TFC yet
