Driving type games - guidance needed

I want to buy myself a good driving game or 2 but I just don't know what's around.

I have just finished playing need for speed underground whicH I thoroughly enjoyed.
I'm not over keen on simulations ie CM Rallies, F1 etc.
But I enjoyed games such as Insane, Motorcross madness 1 & 2.

Please let me know some to have a look at

    cheers

heheh Colin McRae is not a simulation, try Grand Prix 4 or Ricahrd Burns Rally for that.

I would've recommend Colin McRae but...

Try the other Need For Speed Titles, like Hot Pursuit II.

Oooh, richard burns is tough. But it does feel very real. Very satisfying when u get it right though. Which i hardly ever do so far. Doesn't help that steering wheel pedals are on the same axis and the silly thing doesn't realise that i can't left foot break with it. Had to fiddle to get through that part of the training.

Toca Race Driver 2 is fairly arcadey, has a variety of cars and a bit of a plot. But its circuit racing with an occasional rally and maybe an ice race thrown in. Am on 94% of that atm.

Yea I was gonna recommend that, but Colin McRae is easier than TOCA I think, so I wasn't he were gonna like it.

Midnight Club 2 is very NFSU like, good fun and should be pretty cheap now. For these sort of games you're better served by a PS2 or Xbox though then you have stuff like PGR 1&2 on Xbox

If you liked the street racing style in NFSU then look up 'Juiced'. It looks to be one of the better fast and furious style games, which might be worth a look if the modding goes it too more detail than in the first. I think juiced is still being worked on but should be out soonish. Thought i would included some pics because googling seems to hard for people these days..

    Edit: Demo out: ftp://ftp.gameplanet.co.nz/pub/demos...demo_final.zip

He was quite adamant about not liking sims. Can't really go any further into sim territory than GTR. Theres a game being made - i think its call Flat Out or summing - racing muscle cars on a destructible track, supposed to be quite good.

Disclaimer: the name may be completely wrong.

Hardly adament. But yeah see what you mean, still for 135mb its worth a bash.

To be honest you will probably preffer midnight club 2, NFSU and maybe even vice city if you aint played it (whilst not being specifically all driving its got alot of it), then theirs driver 3 (although only played it on xbox not sure if its even out on pc).

They are shipping Juiced I read it somewhere. I think Juice games (original i know...) the company who devolped the game have an outside funding source so says this site which has dissapeared from my memory...

Acclaim were only the publisher so hopefully someone else will pick it up quickly.

If you have a console then Burnout 3 is a fantastic game.

GTR can be played in arcade mode, but that's missing the main point of the game..

off topic - but I'm having nightmares controlling my car in toca 2. I'm braking behind the other cars - but still shooting off the track
I get the feeling that using a keyboard for these games is just making life difficult for myself.
