thats just a rumour started on the forums themselves. AFAIK there still isnt an official word from Simbin yet though (they post at RSC quite often)Originally Posted by MasterFlash
I think the most plausible reason for the delay is to enable them to release wordlwide simultaneously. The original plan was for Scandinavians and Germans to get the game in November and the rest of the world in January. Doing it all at the same time stops people importing from other countries and piracy of the game.
Did savastore have them in stock when you ordereed? The place I am trying to get my one displays "ordered upon request", savastore has the same stock status.
They did have them in stock when i ordered, IIRC ocuk was the next cheapest
Cheers will have a look at ocuk if my one doesent work out.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I believe, (least it's rumored)
that GTR has slipped into the hands of that great simulation killing
company, EA Sports. That may be the reason for the change in physics.
As I said, haven't heard anything confirmed yet.
If so, it's a disappointment. With EA/ISI having to ditch the F1 license,
because of that most evil of all companies Sony, I've had to wait on the
talented but slow moving "Mod" community to keep things updated.
At least with F1Challenge, Find The Limit is back!!!

I go buy BMG_Cya_F1V at FTL. Pretty close to a scratch (zero out) rank. (Advanced Level)
I'm not real familiar with the GT series, as there is not much U.S. coverage.
Anyway, hope it's not true about EA stepping in with (some funding?) at
the last minute, and toning down the sim aspects, but could be true.
Would not be a surprise though.
The physics certainly feel like it to me, i hate EA so much.. altho i wouldnt mind it if they published my game . please, please.
EA rumours are BS. EA are publishing the game, nothing more, nothing less....
They have no input on the development, it's been stated many many times!
Really? Did not know that.Originally Posted by Lowe

Since EA is holding the purse strings, it could have a final, last minute say
on how much of a sim or how much of a "casual gamer" friendly racing
game GTR should be.
Like I said...hope not, but it wouldn't be surprising with how causal-gamer
or console port minded alot of software companies have become.
Well, if you're that opposed to buying an EA game, the Scandinavian version is being published by 10tacel, and has absolutely nothing to do with EA.
Import that one
Not "opposed to EA" for the most part. I just think they are not a simOriginally Posted by rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishey

They are a company, and therefore need to make money so they target
the broadest audience they can.
I think anyone would agree that EA Sports is not ike say...Papyrus as
far making a race sim as realistic as it can be. Most race simulations
are too difficult or take too long to master for the average joe gamer.
Their race sims are not made out of love, but out of the need to make
a buck. Nothing worng with that, unless you are a hardcore sim-jock.
Hmm seems to me like its got the options to be turned into an arcade game and the options to turn into sim (hence the options menu).
This latest rendition only has arcade so that prob why it feels different, hopefully the final version will have the arcade/EA/kids option and the proper racer/no EA/sim option.
EA have NFS underground 2 for arcade gamer.
So if they are making a GT game there is not much point to make it really arcady. And if it is so easy to alter the handling towards arcade - why not make a sim game with an arcade mode? Surelly its better to please everyone than just one side of arcade/sim divide.

Lol, yes, we are great, ain't we.
I kinda forgot it was gonna be 1000th, kept an eye on the count when it was 993-996, then had a weekend at home, where i try to avoid going to the forum (tis one thing to waste time at work and another at home) so i forgot about it again.

Managed to get the demo to run tonight. First thing I did was go into all the options and turn all the assists and what have you off. Took it out for a spin and I was very impressed. To be honest even in semi pro it's easy to lose the rear end on accleration out of a corner if you give it too much in a low gear. I was pretty impressed with the oversteer as well, it's pretty snappy yet controllable. Makes for some interesting replays when you watch it back!
What I wasn't so impressed by was my FPS! Jesus, Mary and Joseph, even with 1 AI car it was significantly down on Free Practice. I can only imagine what a whole grid will be like!
