I have a Half Life 2 voucher that came with my graphics card, how do I go about getting my free game?
enter the serial code into steam [goto browse games, then click 'register a product i already own]
and your done
Can I not just pop into HMV or GAME or something and pick up the game?
nup fraid not, you have to use steami tink you can post off your voucher to ati to get a hard copy tho, not 100% sure
you use your voucher to 'pay' for the game via steam then?

Ok, on the voucher it says, and I quote
"Please note, your FREE* copy of Half Life 2 will be sent to you once the game is relased and available at retail. Please allow for 4-6 weeks for delivery."
And theres some Long Distance phone number to get me a copy...Plus I have to pay for delivery.
yeah which is why steam is easier
the voucher counts as $49.95 credit on the steam store - you can use it to buy the bronze hl2 pack, or as part-payment on the silver/gold packs.
alternatively, you can mail it off & get the game on a cd 2 months after release.

Wait a very long time for release date ;o( , HL2 will be encrypted onto your hard drive. Once released you will be able to activate game.
Takes long time to download, i left PC on all night (512 connection!). Beware of bogus sites offering to hack the encrypted files etc!
HL2 will be download to c:\valve\steam\steamapps.
Oh, once you activated your key code you can also download half life for free and counter strike source (worth having just to shoot PC's up in the office map)
