    Scariest games!!!

HEY everyone i was just reading an article on gamespy.com about some of the scariest games that they ever played. And i have to agree that the scariest so far that i played was Alien VS Predetor 2 really scary game espically with the marinies. The best part is when your motion sensor starts going bersek when you get atttacked by hordes of Aliens (the 6.1 speakers also made my life a living hell when i was attacked from behind, and you can hear the aliens moving very quicky beside you and behind you)!! i mean sometimes i just paused the game to try to reduce my heart rate scary stuff!! What are some of the scariest games you guys been through?

Was scary indeed, was a bit dissapointed by the big aliens. They hyped you up loads and then I shot them in the head (the praetorian) with about 2 shots from my AP firing pistol (whilst hiding in a vent) and he was down

Still, love the whole game (apart from above) especailly the face huggers / chest bursters. In multiplayer they rock!

There was a mod for Quake called Alien Quake. Played in the dark on a LAN and after a few beers it'd make you jump at times.

System shock 2, just when you thought that you were safe a monster appeared behind you screaming "KILL ME!!" while trying to shatter your skull with a wrench!.

    Thief 1 & 2 (And perhaps 3)
Sneaking around in the shadows hoping not to be seen, then a guard appears behind you (Get the jist) cutting you clean in half with there sword, while shouting "I've found you now taffer!"

    Aliens versus predator
It's pitch dark except for a red flashing light which illuminates the corridor, you hear a scuttle you got to investigate and then just as your eyes get accustomed a face hugger jumps at your face.

Well you get the idea, any game with tight claustrophobic corriders, shadows creepy noises, screams and AI that has creatures investigating anything suspicious gets my vote

    Games I found quite scary would probably include the following ;

Sims 2 - Have you seen the SIM creator - some fugly dudes on that
System Shock 2 - Awesome - thank god for DOSbox
Undying - weird ghosthunter style game
AvP 1&2 - motion tracker induced paranoia on this game

Try playing any thief game in the dark with the volume really loud.

From the first game, The Dark Project, the mission: Down the Bonehorde involves you raiding a huge tomb. You have to sneak past hordes of zombies. My lord, the terror! The amount of times I jumped out of my seat, when I rounded a corner only to have a zombie fill the screen and a sudden noise of "Uhhhhhhhhhh"! The frantic fumble to either leg it or bring up either a flash bomb, fire arrow or holy water, caused me to get clubbed to near death numerous times. I needed therapy when I finally finished this mission!

System Shock 2 is without a doubt the most scariest game i have ever played, both for shock moments as well as pure suspense. In the later levels, i was chugging down the psi-refresh hypos just so i could use the invisibility power as often as possible!
    On your 'to do' list

Both Thief and System shock had excellent music for gaming. Instead of having a general sound track, they actually contributed heavily to the atmosphere of the game.

For instance in the 1st level of thief, where you knock out your first guard, the sound of a rising piano can be heard - this made my adrenaline shoot up and my heart was pounding. Also walking round ramirez mansion, with that tension music playing in the background, ambushing guards made my heart race...
