Talking of controls Shiato, they really are the thing that put consoles to shame. If most console games gave you the option to configure your own controls, they'd be much more popular amongst PC Game users.

yeah, i guess, but the whole thing about consols is that you play with a hand-held controller, if you wanted complete customisation they should wait for PC release!

True.
Hell, lets ditch all consoles and play PCs instead.

I think somebody didn't understand me being comical?
One thing that really really got me off consoles, well, in my case, Nintendo, was when RareWare sold out to Microsoft. I thought that was so uncalled for, and we still haven't seen Perfect Dark 2 on the Xbox. In fact, what RareWare games on the Xbox have we seen that compare in any way shape or form to the quality of RareWare games on the SNES/N64?
Btw, Conker's Bad Fur Day. Legend.

What do you expect from the company that originally created Knight Lore & Sabre Wulf - two of the best games ever
Never played them tbh (or heard of them), but if they were RareWare, I daresay they were v.good.
Donkey Kong Country for the SNES was an awsome game too, as was Donkey Kong Country 2, with Diddy Kong.

Very true directhex, very true.

Sabrewolf is an ace game. For any of you who have a GBA theres a version available on that, and it is just as good
As for Perfect Dark on the Xbox - this will no doubt be no where near as good as "Free Radical" The guys behind the original Perfect Dark (then under the name Rare) are now a seperate company all together.
They are currently working on Time Splitters 3 : Future Perfect which is out in a matter of weeks and looks absolutely ace.

Yep, I think RareWare are doomed. At the time of their Microsoft take over, I was sceptical of people who said Nintendo had gotten rid of them at the right time, but now I can't agree with them more.
That isn't to say they aren't one of the legends of computer games.
New Sig on the Way...
Yep, most of the peeps in RareWare at the moment joined after RareWare's big successes. Most of the original guys have left for high places in other companies.
New Sig on the Way...
what name do these gaming gurus work under now? if the company name (rareware) was sold to microsoft this will only mean that those not in the know - i.e. average punter - will see the rare tag and think 'oh, this must be good'...
but to us that know that a game sold under the rare tag - for xbox say - will not be nearly as good as the quality that oozes from games such as goldeneye, perfect dark or DK. games with atmosphere and depth, hardly touched on by recent pc games. ok, so you can get a game like HL2 or doom3 cause it'll push your gfx card to stupid limits to render nice backdrops and characters etc but you know, these games are undeniably predictable...sad really cause then you can beat the game every time, especially when people hack them lots.
consols on the other hand require skill and dexterity, and patience. I'v been playing goldeneye for how long (?) and I still can't complete the last level, on middle difficulty! yeah I know its not fantastic but as a game its awesome.
I wonder, are there any plans for games like this on the gamecube? perhaps nintendo hung onto the original rare guys and are already designing some more awesome games for our entertainment...
