    Oldy thread: N64 Perfect Dark

My bro got this for his n64 which we play a fair amount when I go back home, mario cart is a classic what ever platform its on. Anyway, he picked up a copy of Perfect dark for just 3.99 and so we had a go.

its awesome! its like playing a pc game on the n64 it really is, It reminded me of that game 'No one lives forever' on the PC. Its truely a shame Rare (makers of Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Donkey Kong etc) didn't tackle the PC market cause with their originality in game play and thoroughness of a well put together and thought out game they would have swept the board!
anyway, just wanted to say that despite it being an 'old' system I still like the games on it...maybe one day I'll get the gamecube to see what the fuss is about.

Perfect Dark was the best single player console FPS i've ever played, bettereven than Goldeneye. The Multiplayer was on par with GoldenEye and was only beaten when TimeSplitters 2 came along

Theres a co-op in TS2 as well - pretty fun.
I always used to play goldeneye with my dad - grenade launchers in the temple was our fave - for years we would try and break the record of 20 - 0. Never did though

Then perfect dark came along with and improved version of the goldeneye engine and improved multiplayed with levels from goldeneye - it was pure class

Oh and elvis the alien r00lz0rz

i only played it for a day and got stuck on the level where you put a crate against a wall to go find Elvis. I put on the lab clothes, run around and get busted when the clock at the bottome runs out - I have no idea what I am suppoesd to do!
but i do get a superdragon and all its great fun, despite being unable to finish the level...

It's way better than TS2. By far. I still play it now, it has its flaws, but if you spend the time I have and find the depth in it, you'll be amazed.

    Examples of depth:
Knock a guard out with punch.
Crouch and punch him in the face. After a while, his neck will SNAP and jolt.
Knock a guard out with punch set to disarm.
Crouch and punch him repeatedly. He bounces.

After either fo these you can STILL shoot him in the head and the neck snap thing kicks in. Amazing.

If you get a phoenix on explosive shells you can actually cave and burn someones face in and deform their body.

    There's so much more.

Get a falcon shoot a guard. Run up to him, see how Joanna turns her guns on the side, Gangster style. Shooting guns out of guards hands, the combat boost, the amount of speech on a cartridge. This game is perfect.

The BEST N64 games everyone else seems to have forgotten:

BomberMan 64, weird, Japanese, made by Hudson, but ADDICTIVE.

DIDDY KONG RACING! God, that game rocked... I unlocked DrumStick.

    Vigilante 8! AMAZING GAME!

Of course, the undisputed best games on the N64 were GoldenEye and Zelda Ocarina of Time.
