Exclamation Need Expert Info about Xbox

    “Alright People”

As prices have gone down and I’ve acutely got some money,
Im interested in buying an Xbox but have a few thoughts….

Such as is it a good time to buy a Xbox because I’ve heard that Microsoft is bring out 2nd generation Xbox with a new chip inside in about 4 months?

If this is right wouldn’t it be worth waiting 4 months till it comes out, which would then make the original Xbox come down in price?

Also what is your view on the Game Cube?
Which one would you say you would rather buy and why?

I am very greatful for all your thoughts….

    Thanks a lot

Ps. Please post me any Good sites that you would think would help me….
    THANKS

Only rumours about the new Xbox, I really don't think that there will be a new xbox for a while.

I've got an Xbox and PS2 at the moment, I also owned a Gamecube which I sold just after I bought the Xbox.

The Xbox owns the other two imho. Xbox Live rocks, and it soo much better than PS2's online offering. It just works

Having had all three current consoles, I would say:-

    1. Xbox
    2. PS2
    3. GameCube

I used to say "I'll never own a microsoft console, blah blah" but now wish I'd bought the xbox sooner.

there will be NO new xbox for a while, though there is a hardware revision (more integrated, therefore smaller unit) in japan soon.

personally p refer the gamecube as there's only one game on xbox i like, but you may feel differently.

or save up & get both...

I'm not a console man and by no means an expert but I'd prefer the x-box, it's faster, more powerful and has cool features like digital sound output. Personally I wouldn't get a console though as I only really like fps games and tbh I think these games are crap with a gamepad

/me opts for missing third option.. PS2

I decided that there was no real point in buying an xbox as I already have a perfectly acceptable pc

PS2 Online is always going to be inferior for now as the whole thing is still running off the memory card, it's only when the hdd comes out that the service will improve dramatically.

I think it all depends on what you are going to use it for, if you play a lot of single player games, like fps (on console), like the idea of online console play (and have big hands ) then get the Xbox.
If, on the other hand, you enjoy gettin a load of mates round and adding alcohol then get a gamecube and four controllers.
I have a GC and have been extremely happy with it, but then if you dont like Nintendo games or want to play online then the Xbox will be better for you.

I read somewhere that one of the top guys from one of the major games producers said the gamecube is a dieing business.

Will try and get some names.

Id say the Xbox - simply because i like more of the games on it.
The game cube does have some brilliant games for it, but it seems that too many are aimed at the kids market to take my intrest.
The XBox also has a lot of partners behind it, good upcoming games, and its pretty advanced hardware side

I don't see much point in owning an Xbox if you own a PC. Most games released on the Xbox are eventually released on the PC - with better graphics and often better controls.

Having said that, the rumour is that the Xbox will drop in price and be bundled with 2 games, just like last Christmas. A very tempting price, even if there's only 1 or 2 games that you want to play.

That’s the Great thing I Do Love about the Xbox, is that I can link it up to my 5.1 Sound system with the 36" wide screen TV,

That’s what really made me want to get one when my mate brought his round.... Tell you what; Playing Halo on my Sound system with an Active Sub is some thing out of this world. Delish!!!!
