Ok thanks.
Ok thanks.
New Sig on the Way...
well, thats one of the stylus' anyway.
They wont be releasing another DS, unless it does obscenely well worldwide.
They have already announced they are working on another Gameboy. Remember, be careful to distinguish that this is NOT a Gameboy DS, but a completly different console, not in the same class as the Gameboy.
The next Gameboy is rumoured to have near PS2 quality graphics, so closer to the PSP hardware, and only one larger screen.... This could be the "PSP Beater".

The new gameboy will be shown this year at E3 and it is the direct rival to the PSP. Nintendo have rumored that they will then be aiming at making the DS more of a tool than a toy.

Yes, they have said they plan to release PDA software for it and are going to be aiming it more at communication and "wireless play" rather than out-n-out gaming.
Roll on E3 so we can see what they have up their sleeves next! And Roll on pokemon, for without it, Nintendo couldnt fun all these funky things lol!!!

so we'll have some REALLY good hand held games then? getting a bit hard to follow now though - releasing one after the other so soon...
i think the ds might not do too well, as its not so much a pda nor an out and out gaming machine...so what is it? !

why would they release a gameboy then say its not so good, as its not a contender for the psp, then call it a pda. People want to buy it to play games, not to organise themselves goddamit!
This is a bit stupid really... When this all first came about, Nintendo said the DS was the 3rd corner of the 'console triangle'. That included the Gamecube, GBA and of course the DS.
Sounds like this is gonna be another 'Virtuaboy'....
Oh, and why make it compatible with gameboy games too? Surely thats just gonna dip SP and standard GBA sales through the floor?
New Sig on the Way...
Anyone who is commenting on how "pointless" or "stupid" the DS is needs to actually play one. The Metroid prime demo it comes with is ACE, really good fun multiplayer that we tested up to 30 meteres and it still worked!
It is a truly innovative machine and not a waste of time what so ever...
Ok, so the PSP is very nice, but i dont see Nintendo Japan having to recall over 5,000 consoles like Sony have?
Please, have a go on the machine, then if you still dont like it then fine

It seems a touch unnecessay seeing as it is neither a gameboy or a main console....... its like it doesn't really fit in with the other consoles.
I can't wait to have a go at Mario 64 DS though.
New Sig on the Way...
Mario 64 DS is awsome! Once you get to used to the stylus on your thumb, the control becomes almost second nature. With the addition of extra characters to play as - changes that subtly alter the play mechanics and so are more than cosmetic - the game is different whilst retaining the Mario 64 feel.
For a really Japanese, quirky, sit-there-and-stare-wtf-is-going-on, type of game, have a go on Project Rub. The 'story' sees you carrying out tasks to win the heart of your girl. Fair enough. Your first task see's you using the stylus to stroke the inside of a chaps stomach, forcing it to contract and thus sending the goldfish he accidently swallowed, into his throat so he can vomit them out. Hey, it gets weirder but it looks really cool, plays really well (it won't accept any input other than the touch screen - and it makes you smile. Who can ask for more?
