Due to GPU/crashing issues I'm something like 4hrs in but havent actually done anything yet. Waiting for my replacement GPU and will hope I can play it for more than 5 mins at a time.
From my brief time with it I'm not a fan of the star map, it looks so confusing, and don't get me started on the amount of junk in the world that I have to walk around with my scanner on to see.
Thanks all. Might hold off a bit until a) a sale b) more patches

It's.. OK.
Easily the worst single player game Bethesda have put out. Which is odd - it has all the ingredients for a great game, but somehow misses the mark. There isn't any real atmosphere (haha), exploration isn't a wonder, the living other life thing isn't well supported and there's not a lot that draws you in to give you a reason to pick it up.
As with their other games, you can make it better for yourself by giving yourself your own goals and discipline, but you *really* have to to have fun. I found myself enjoying the ship builder the most, and gave myself the discipline of a minimum set of steps to travel which avoided fast travel where possible - always making sure to get to my ship and go to the cockpit to take off, and when landing, leave the ship via the doors rather than fast travel etc. - this helped ground the fantasy a little better, and gave more opportunity to interact with/view the ship.
Many thanks, think I will wait for a sale, I expect some type of discount around xmas now.

That's an interesting perspective. I get why you say to make your own objectives BUT, for me, that kind of thing isn't why I play a game. Which pretty much means this isn't one for me, especially given that my time for gaming is limited these days and I've a healthy backlog of games that are actually my thing. One for me to avoid, I think.

A lesson learned from PeterB about dignity in adversity, so Peter, In Memorium, "Onwards and Upwards".
I own it as my 7800 XT came with Premium due to the AMD promotion, and I've even installed it (on my Sandisk Ultra 3D 2TB [SATA] SSD at least as I haven't got around to installing my NVMe drives yet despite buying one of them almost a year ago).
I haven't got around to playing it yet though, but I do intend to do so sooner rather than later.
Which I realise could be seen as an odd choice to start with given I've never played any of the Elder Scrolls games yet despite owning them for years, but I'm justifying it in that I should at least try the newly-released game included with the GPU.
