New game similar to C&C Generals required

I've tried to get into Rome: Total War but find it difficult to engage in. I'm not happy with the concept of taking turns. I prefer a game that runs in real time.

The last game that I was totally addicted to was C&C: Generals. Is there a current game along similar lines and one that you can play online?

Warhammer 40k - Dawn of War

superb RTS, imo its the best "simple" RTS out at this time. The gameplay, the surprising amount of stategy, the animations, the graphics and the online play. Its all here.

simple meaning not like rome total war etc.

Act of War is probably the most similar thing to come out recently.

Act of War is good but nothing compared to C&C generals, have you considered buying the expansion pack?

Act of War is a good RTS, its more like Red Alert 2 in regards to tactics except for the artillery, 3d engine and the 3rd army but the russians and us army are there as ever.

It's got a great single player for an RTS with b grade acting and high octance filiming.
