Possible PS3 Full Remake of Final Fantasy 7.

There are rumours that the tech demo of the opening FMV to Final Fantasy VII, that was completely redone and shown running on the PS3 may mean that there is going to be a full remake of FF7, in all its glory, remade for the PS3.

Can you begin to imagine how fantastic that would be? Finaly Fantasy 7, the greatest RPG of all time, arguably the greatest game ever, remade in PS3 shinyness?

Its all a rumour at the moment, with Square pretty much saying 'Its not a teaser to a full FF7 remake', but the word from those in the know is that this would be such a mad seller, that its got to be in the pipeline.

I have honestly never been so excited by a gaming rumour.

It would be so sick... please do this Square, you owe it to the world.

You can watch the vid over at IGN, at low res if you are a scummer and high res if you are an IGN Insider.

No, WoW in the best MMORPG (or GW if it's what you like), but FFVII is the greatest RPG of all time!

to Square everyone, keep your fingers crossed this will happen. I would buy a PS3 just for FFVII!!!

Games industry must be in a sad state for everybody to get so excited about remakes. Also shows how gaming has matured to be more like the film industry, with remakes of classics for new generations.

What they should do (but prob wont) is keep everything exactly the same story / character wise but just wack it on a new engine - but nooooooo they will play with the story, make characters look different, talk differnt etc etc

Not at all. I played this game longer than anything else I've ever played, with the possible exception of Frontier: Elite 2 and now WoW. I think the game was perfect and am waiting to get another copy of it so I can play it again on my PS2, but if they vamped it up for the PS3 (i.e. JUST graphics, toy with the story line or how the game plays and they'll ruin it IMO) I think it would be an incredibly huge seller and well worthy of many awards and another large fan base.

Do you complain about "Digitally Remastered" films, tv shows etc that come out on DVD? New format, new look, same wonderful content? Red Dwarf looks so much better now on DVD than the originals yet it's still the same fantastic Red Dwarf, it's still hilarious and well worth the money!

Now, if you're talking about "remakes" like the new Italian Job and the like, then yes, they are normally completely rubbish and never as good as the originals.

I would also like to point out that I will be running down pedestrians on the footpath to get hold of a PS3 if they remake FFVII.

Well Said that man Oh and Elite 2 on the Amiga ranks up there as one of the greatest games ever written. They took a classic game and turned it into a work of genius. Mmmmm - thinkning about it - imagine a remake of Elite 2 on the PS3 with even more missions and ships...... wipes away drool
If it ain't broke, fetch a bigger hammer

I played FFVII for 50+ hours when I was at school, but I was just a kid then, and I'm not sure that if I were to play it again these days it'd live up to my fond memories.

Just like all retro games, I'd rather look back at them through rose-tinted glasses than re-play them and come to the horrible realisation that they were actually rubbish, haha.
