Definetly yes, for a long time i had a ridiculous obsession with Morrowind (like 4 hours a day for months), swear i musta played over 300 hours of that game. Sadly this spawns from my addictive personality thats and why i've never smoked or dabled in drugs simply because i think id go to extremes, and comically enough is also why ive never went near an MMORPG since im sure id go on some a complete bender lol.

I never play for horrifically long periods of time, unless friends are over or something.. I've got a fair few games on the go at the moment, I'll be able to play a fair bit of them in the summer...

Daymonky is too addicted to EVE.

Yes, it is definitely possible to play a game too much - and if it gets to a point when your social life is being sacrificed then it is time to take a break from playing IMO.

Also you can play a game so much that it becomes a way of life for yourself. I have played IL2 for 18 months and over the past 2/3 weeks I have taken a break from it, yet I still find myself signing into the game lobby to chat, checking forums etc as it has become a large part of my (online) life. However this is only a part of my life, and is not the 'centre' of my life - life does not revolve around games, and sometimes it is difficult to realise that, especially if you get addicted to it as I'm sure many of us have.

It is important to take breaks from games if you play them as much as your Xfire stats show, if not to save your own personal life, then to make your gaming experience more fun rather than being the main part of your life.

RPG's can be particularly bad for your social life, as you can easily 'become' your online character and lose a sense of real life - becoming totally addicted to playing the game in order to feel self-fulfilled after gaining EXP or reaching a new level.

The fact that you are having these thoughts tells me that you should take a break now while you can, before it gets too late.

I have only ever clocked gaming hours into the hundreds on games like Pokémon (I'm talking about red and blue, not this new stuff) and Final Fantasy. The hundreds of hours did accumulate over about half a year for all those games though.

When GTA: San Andreas came out, the competitive buzz was so high around my school that one my friends was sick one day, having spent all his free time on his PS2 and he was suffering badly. When he came back in he had a headache and red eyes.

So yes you can play a game too much. I limit myself very harshly on how much I play. 0-1.5 hours during weekdays and 0-4 hours on weekends and holidays. I also make sure to take plently of breaks.
