    X360 included display cable query

I have heard lots of mixed things around the internet on the subject of the cable that is included with the XBOX 360, so I'm gonna ask people here if they know the ACTUAL answer.

With the XBOX 360, according to the xbox GB site, you get with the Premium Pack a 'HD AV cable with scart adapter'. Will I be able to plug this into the scart socket on my standard TV (not high-def) and it'll work? The reason for my confusion is that M$ are selling a 'STANDARD AV cable with scart adapter' seperately.

Sorry if this post seems a bit direct, I've just got quite a lot of BS from other forums.

edit: I need the answer from someone here in the UK, we understand Scart etc

From what i've read from various sources - the £280 pack comes with a HD cable and a normal Scart cable.

Yeah, i very much doubt they will sell a £280 product expecting people to only buy it if they have a HD TV, especially since HD owner numbers are so low.

Yes you will be able to plug the scart adaptor into a standard UK scart equipped TV. If you look at this picture you can see all the connections. Red/Green/Blue is the component output used in high end CRT TV's and used for the HD signal. Red/White is the audio out and the yellow is the composite signal. For your TV you will need to use the yellow+Audio connectors.

This will give a basic signal but will not switch the channel for you. If you want the better RGB scart then you should get the advanced AV cable for £17.99. I would recommend this cable over the composite cable, its well worth the upgrade.

Yes there is a lot of BS doing the rounds when it comes to the X360, most by idiots who haven't got a clue.

thanks mate, finally an answer! i may end up purchasing the advanced cable at a later date, but at the moment i'm happy that it'll just work straight out the box. i have to say, thinking about it it would be a huge mistake for it not to work on standard TVs out the box, especially in Europe where there's little call for HDTVs right now. cheers, very much appreciated.

i think its worth taking the plunge straight away and getting the rbg scart cable, it will look a LOT better. and it DOES work on standard tvs out of the box, but they have been very cheeky and only given the most basic (excluding rf) and worst quality connection u can get
