How fast doess a bullet travel in a game? In your joe-avearge FPS, does the computer work out the trajectory & speed of the projectile? Or is it a simple hit/miss calculation...
I remember the original battlefield having m/s values, it was very very slow compared to real values. i seem to remember the tiger 88mm gun having a real value of around 1100m/s and it being modeled in game at something around 1/7th of that.
I'll try and push vimeous or beanbandit to this thread as they actually did some modelling with a group of guys and produced quite a successful mod (realistic one)

thast a really interseting thought actually. id be quite interested to know how the speeds do measure up in different games.
Projectiles from vehicle cannons in Planetside were quite slow, you had to lead your target substantially. In BF2 you also have to lead the targets. Whether its because of lag or bullet speed is a different question. One could argue that combination of instant infinitely fast bullets with delay due to ping times makes for a fairly realistic projectile speed. I can't get to grips with the big sniper rifle though - wonder how it models drop off and such, does anyone have any hints on how to aim with it?
Tough on mirrors, tough on the causes of mirrors.
Aim right at them!
Can't stress it enough: THERE IS NO BULLET DROP!!
(Honestly, there isn't.)
The accuracy is instantaniously at 100% when you stop moving; just go prone, aim the crosshairs straight for the head or chest and fire. Trust me
