Is the disc scratched/dirty? I assume you've got plenty of free disk space?

Yeah have loads of disk space, as for the disc its brand new, not a scratch on it.

Don't know if this is the solution, but that file is a BIIIIIG file......it takes ages to install, and I certainly got the impression that it was stuck/crashed/hung......but I left it to it's own devices, and lo and behold, it happily installed and I have been much enjoying the game since.

Not sure if that helps at all, but it was certainly my experience with the install.

Thanks for the help, i have let it fully install on that one file but seems to last the whole of the installation which I know is not right, anywho i tireed to play it anyway and i kept gettin the same message that the game has a problem and has to close. Im guessing that this is becuase it only have arch00 installed.

I often have problems installing when games get to large files. Things that help are: restarting before installing - making sure you have as much free memory as possible. Making sure you have plenty of virtual memory. Try copying the file or file that contains it to the hard first to help windows load it up partly in cache (prefetch). Turn off anything else that's bothering your computer, and then just try several times and be patient

It's worth noting that FEAR wont install if you're running any drive emulators like Alcohol etc.

It installed fine with dtools in the bg. Altough you are partially correct... It won't play if you have a drive emulator running.

All I can say is SR7.Stop

Happens to me with some games, transferring large files on a DVD.

I just disable all my antivirus, firewalls, and other background apps. Then enable them all back afterwards.
