Someone has hijacked my Steam account...

What a pain in the arse... I haven't been able to log into the account for 4 or so days and now it says account disabled. I emailed them a couple of days ago saying I couldn't log in, now I've updated my email with what has happened including attaching images of my CD key and HL2 case.

Any one been through this before and know how long it takes to sort out?

Ah sorry to hear that mate... I think Valve quite genuinely care though and they may be able to sort it out for you if you provide supporting evidence (which it looks like you have, except maybe a receipt)...

wtf i have this too, i requested a new password on friday, it wasnt sent, and then filled in a form on their site to get back to me, and i try to log in yesterday, account disabled, wtf!

I've not had this with steam - but I my half-life 1 CD key nicked/generated.

I used to play TFC alot around when it was first released (anyone remember G.L.O.W [general law of war]?) and then some days I would get a WON error about my cd key being in use. Happened more and more often until it finally clicked that someone had pinched my key

Phoned them up, and they asked for a photocopy of my jewel case showing the key, the manual, and a copy of my reciept. Got the manual back a week later with a CD key written inside the front cover

I was really impressed by the support there, although I guess it was more sierra than valve. On a side note I had great support from EA too, My CnC generals disc 1 shattered in my CD drive 9 months after i bought it. Phoned up EA and they just asked for a photocopy of the manual and the broken CD.

A week later a new and sealed copy of CnC deluxe appeared on my doorstep, i was expecting one CD and got a whole new copy of the game plus its expansion for free! go EA

Valve (or was it Vivendi) told me to send the jewel case to them when my HL1 cd key got stolen - to flipping Canada! I couldn't be arsed to do it.

You probs wont hear anything from them for a long time, took my mate a couple of months to get his account back =\ luckily he doesnt play that much so he wasnt bothered, would be easier to get a new copy lol

I'm starting to think Valve has messed up somewhere...

doesnt help that Valve do not allow account related issues on their forums, so I can't be sure just how many people are having the issue, but theres 3 of us on Hexus at least.

You can be quite sure that if they dont allow it on their forum, its a common enough issue. Good luck mate, you'll need it knowing valve/vivendi.
