Question Media courseowork:designing an imaginary ps2 game cover using paint shop pro 9,ideas?

Hi, for my media coursework i have to design a game cover for a game that i have to make up. I have decided to do action adventure based on survey results, but i still need a name and to make to front cover and blurb. I have paint shop pro 9 but i have only just got it. Have you got any ideas for a front cover and how to do it?? thanks, be creative!John

    1) Take an existing game and scan it for the standard logos/spine layouts etc
    2) Grab a DVD cover template from the web (google it, there are loads)
    3) Insert your Artwork and the standard box art on different layers
    4) Decide on your sell text
    5) Add in the "screenshots"
    6) Add in the text layers (try to do this last, so then you can mess with fonts and layout)

Pretty simple really, not much more than an afternoon's work

thanks, this may sound really stupid, nut i have no instructions with my paintshop pro, and i'm struggling to work out how to superimpose one image i have over another. Like a i have ps2 template and i'm trying to place a photo onto top of it to make it into one.I know theres loads of layers like ratser, background, vector and artwork, but i'm not sure how to get 2 images up and then merge them onto each other. Any help? thanks, John

    Image 1
    CTRL-A - select all
    CTRL-C - copy to clipboard
    Image 2
CTRL-L - paste it as a new layer
Then adjust your layer tranparency slider
Also play with burn, darken, multiply... etc etc

OK, thanks, that's a great help, i'm getting somewhere now. However, once i place a selected image from one photo to paste it onto another, once it has been pasted onto background layer, i no longer seem to have control over it to move it. So if i want to move it around say to the middle of the front cover, i have to go round it again with the selection tool, but then i take parts of the background with it. Apologising in advance for my ignorance, John.

OK, yeah that works, but when i paste the image, i can no longer control it. so i have to drag out a selection box again and even then i cannot resize it...

lol, i agree that it is a bit of a doss subject, but this is also an issue of me learning how to use paintshop pro 9, so it's not all about the media coursework. And for your information, I do English Literature, History and P.E as well...not doss subjects.

You need to select the correct layer that that part is on. Everything pasted in SHOULD (I'm talking Photoshop here, not used PSP so I'm guessing) become a new layer. You need to change layers basically.

    Hope this helps.
